Lions pre game plans before going to the game

Who’s going and what are your pregame plans before the game?

With Ford Fields gates opening 3 hours early at 12 noon (I think) and the game starting at 3pm there’s plenty of time to burn before heading to the game.

I like to head downtown early and I’m planning to leave around my normal time for a 1pm game and I plan to enjoy the city and fans before heading to Ford Field.

I’m debating what I want to do but I’m leaning towards the Old Shillelagh’s pregame party myself but I’m pretty open and I’m looking for ideas. I might be willing to hang out and have a drink with you.

So what are you doing?

It took me a second to digest the title of the post.

Yeah I could have worded that better.

@Air2theThrown we started there for my bachelor party decades ago. Some lady came up to me and asked me if I was the groom and I said yeah. She asked me if I was sure I was going to get married and I said yeah. Then she put her underwear around my neck (obviously removed) and asked me again. I once again said I was sure.

Now the funny part happened when we left. Before other activities we thought it would be good to go to the casino. We are walking down the street and some huge are walking toward us and the littlest one is staring me down like he wants to start up. We pass each other and the yells “hold up hold up hold up”. Fists clenched we know what’s about to go down when he then yells “my boy got some PANTIES around his neck!” We all laughed together. 2 decades later and we still say that at random times……

This has nothing to do with the Lions, just a damn funny story that started at that bar.

Sunday will be the first time I get to watch a Lions game on my Birthday (1-21)

Gonna celebrate with family before the game and enjoy a good meal.

If I get lit candles put in front of my face before the game…you know darn well what wish is being asked for…

My ‘step’ cousin used to sing there (old shillelagh) before he passed a few years ago. Visited the pub as a kid when i was over from Scotland. Brings back great memories.

Some cool stories about the Old Shillelagh thanks for sharing everyone.

Even if your not going to the game let’s here about any watch parties you plan to go to. Especially those near Detroit.

I WAS going to the game. I wrapped my Wife’s brand new car around a tree yesterday morning heading to work. I broke my arm and 4 ribs. 17 stitches on my head. I got whiplash, the whole shebang. Safe to say I will be home this weekend.

Watch parties will be awesome too. Even just going to the bar there. Jealous this week for all of you natives this week. Enjoy! I will be lamenting at a BW3 in northern Indiana. Soooooo jealous.

Sorry to hear that. At least you’re safe and able to watch the game.

I ordered a custom built truck one year and was working long hours when it became available for pickup. My wife took my two kids and picked it up for me. She pulled out of the dealership and was T-boned and totaled it. I was a young 25 year old and learned the lesson of the importance of gap insurance. The hard way of course.

Oh man, get better!
Hopefully the ribs don’t hurt too much as you celebrate for the St Brown, Gibbs and LaPorta TD’s Sunday.
