Lions prospect visit tracker

Not a fan of Payton’s, but he does good work tracking all of our visits:

Bald guy, so likely merit to this

Looks like we’ve met with a pretty wide swathe of positions. LB and TE seems to just shade it, but there’s 3Ts, OT, iOL, kick returners, can-crushing edges, SAM-edges, outside CBs, nickels, safeties, even a QB and a long snapper.

Good. We have a lot of talent at the top but definitely need to start adding depth everywhere.

Met with him twice it looks like.

How about Akeem Mesidor, player comp Johnathan Greenard. Coached by Jason Taylor

Still early, 28 more official visits left plus pro days. Plus the ones we don’t know about (there are a lot missing from the combine).

Technically, but that first one is disingenuous. Apparently every team talked to him while he was standing on the sidelines there, and we were one of them. I’m not sure that I would actually count it as a “visit,” but whatever. The other one was for sure.

UTSA has some fast backers

A great day 2/day3 target list

I don’t know if this means official 30 or just, like, dinner beforehand.

Thoughts on him vs let’s say CJ Daniels day 3

You’re right that they are similar. Personally I don’t really see a need for this type of guy, though maybe the Meeks → TE track is more official? Or maybe we’re looking for lanky WRs to essentially play that role in 13 for us. Virgil is unique in that he’s a big guy who operated plenty in the middle of the field like a TE, whereas Daniels is pretty much strictly outside. Virgil also offers special teams upside, whereas I’m pretty sure Daniels rarely played on any coverage or return units.

Just a friendly reminder that the Lions only seem to ever visit guys they still have questions about and Brad has said things to that effect in the past. If they like a player and have no outstanding questions, they generally will NOT meet with them to keep their interest under wraps.

Right, that’s what the vast majority of cases are.

That said most of the guys we pick had visits too, it’s just sometimes we don’t know about it ahead of time. But last year all of Tyleik, Ratledge and TeSlaa were on the above link. The Gibbs/Jack year I think Branch was the only one we heard about pre-draft.
