Lions Roster Bubble Tracker: who you got?

A few interesting battles for the bottom of the roster.

QB2: Bridgewater vs Altmyer (I expect Teddy to get the nod)

Skills 11&12 (lets assume: Gibbs, Pachecco, Vaki, ASB, Jamo, Tesla, Dortch, LaPorta, Wright, Conklin are all in, 3RB, 4WR, 3TE)

pick 2: Meeks, Lovett, Saylors, Kitselman.

OL8&9 (one center) we know the starters, Fraizer and borom being the only locks.

Center: Scruggs, Neise

Ol9: Bartch, Miller, Cochran and ^ center 3.

DL 8/9/10. Hutch, Mac, Williams, Moore, Turner, Wonnum, Levi Those 7 i feel are locks.

Pick 3: Wingo, Smith, SGH, hassanin, lacy, Keanaaina,

LB 4/5/6. Basicly just the big 3 starters locked. Now Rolder is on IR.

Pick 3: Nowasake, Clark, White, Reeder, Bachie,

DB: 10/11

Lots of room there. 2 spots. After Reed, Rake, Rock, Dorsey, Abney, Mcreary, Izein, Harper, Whiteside

Pick 2: Maddox, Clark, Jackson, Strickland.

I think Meeks could make it over Conklin. I wouldn’t bet on that or anything, but I think it’s more possible than others seem to. I think Lacy is more of a lock than Levi, and I bet Hassanein makes it too. And I have no idea on Turner, but I for sure wouldn’t consider him a lock. I’d also be pretty stunned if Harper didn’t make it

Conklin is a better blocker, which is what you want in a TE3. Where Meeks has a higher offensive upside. Even dan sad last week Meeks biggest area he needs to improve is blocking.

based on camp reports, Turner is the best pure pass rusher outside of Hutchinson on the outside. Hence why i have him as a lock. A tangible high skill. Everyone else is just kinda just good. Not really great at anything. i could see Wingo and Levi being more bubble than not. I just have a hard time picking 3 of the other guys to jump one of them.

And whiteside and Harper are definitely the top of the list. I could pen them in and leave 3 spots open for the rest

Conklin is a better blocker, but Meeks was an excellent blocker for a WR, so he’ll make the adjustment. There’s just a limit to what guys can do with such a size difference, he has to learn how to work around that now, and that takes time. But I also don’t think ‘#3 TE is a blocker’ is a hard and fast rule or anything. Zylstra wasn’t much of a blocker. You take the best guy.

Turner might make the team for sure, but he’s also an oft-injured journeyman with a history of injury proneness, who signed for cheap. Nothing about that profile says lock.

I got Teddy for QB2.

Saylors for RB4.

Wilson for WR5.

Scruggs and Bartch for OL8 & 9, but I could see Cochran leaping Bartch.

I got 9 DL, with Lacy, Hass, and SGH in, and Wingo out.

Got Nowaske, Clark and White for LB4/5/6, but LB6 could really be anyone.

Got Whiteside, Izien, Harper, Maddox, Clark at DB, with Jackson/Strickland being DB11. (Could see any DL left over instead of DB11, doesn’t matter as that’s the first guy out when Branch returns).

Izien is a lock. Lacy is getting first team reps - he should be a lock.

Ill concede on the DBs. I agree, Izien Harper and Whiteside in. Pick2 from the remainder.

I cant see them keeping 10 dbs and 11DL. All about special teams. Need more gunners.

and ill take wingo off a peg.

I hear ya on The TE3. But also special teams ability. Idk how well Meeks is doing vs Coklin shines. Thats the big thing.

And Turner might be often injured. But when healthy hes good. So if hes healthy at cut day. Hes in

I think all things being equal, they’d keep Hassanein over him even if he’s healthy. Hassanein’s flashing in camp, he’s been drafted by us, he stuck with us last year when he had opportunities to go elsewhere, and he’s cheaper (also Turner missing the last 5 practices doesn’t help). I like Turner, I liked the signing, and if he seizes the spot or no one else steps up he could for sure make the team, I don’t disagree with that. I just think considering him a ‘lock’ is a bridge too far.

I had Turner as a lock last week. But now that he’s missed 5 practices in a row with a back injury, he’s on the bubble.

For me the very fact that he can miss 5 practices and shift off the list means he was never really on the list to begin with. I suppose it’s just a difference in the way we view these things.

I’m not so sure Vaki is a lock at RB either. Could see an RB added between now and opening day.

You could be right, I think he’s helped somewhat by his draft capital and that they absolutely have to want to see what they actually have in him (since they haven’t yet) but yeah if he bombs camp he might miss out.

Assuming no additions* for the 53. So these 91 guys are the only options. But i fully expect them to add a few players from the outside before week 1.

I barely know who 3/4 of those guys are. I’m get back to you after week 2 of the preseason

Plus he’d die for us. He won’t shut up about it. I make a habit of surrounding myself with people who will die for me.

 I wonder why I’m so lonely?

He’s good enough on teams that they will keep him if he’s healthy.

.

I agree with this idea, and I also believe that having Borom as a swing tackle also could lead to MORE 3 OTs jumbo alignments than we had with Skipper in that role.

.

Maybe a significant increase?

.

If Borom is playing well in camp, it makes sense to pound the ball with 6 OL guys paving the way for Gibbs.

And that makes for a tough day for opposing defenses with play action passes.

Everbody in the league is going TE heavy…

I could see us keeping 4 TE, that’s my guess both make it
