In the highlights he moved similar to McNeil probably just have similar body types. I could see the Lions using him next to Reader also. And sub in for Reader keep their snap counts down and keep them fresh.

I think it’s more accurate to say that he’s competing with Bmart. Which is a good thing.

Not sure it will be much of a competition. Lopez has started 50 games Bromart has I think 52 snaps in the NFL.

After checking out the tape under your point. Highly doubt reader would be cut. Wouldn’t even make sense. I don’t think this bodes well for Levi.

The speculation on Reader won’t last much longer. The 3rd day of the league calendar is Saturday at 4PM Eastern, when his roster bonus is due, I think.
My guess is this is Brad’s replacement for Levi. Not saying they are the same player, or even position, but I doubt they have McNeil, DJ, pay Looez then give Levi a big ass bag. That’s too much at the DT position most likely.

The only question I have is why did Arizona not want him back? He seemed well established in the community.
I would guess he will start for Alim until he is 100%. The Lions will not rush him back until he is really ready to go.
Agree with your thinking on Lopez. To me, with McNeil starting the season injured and the likely departure of Levi, an immediate contributor (i.e. not a draft pick) was going to need to be picked up. Not a free agent darling, just an immediate “contributor”, which he can be either lined up beside Reader or in relief of him.
I was waiting for one of the writers to say something like:
“Lopez is a chess piece that Kacy Rodgers can use in the middle of the defensive line.”
Maybe Dan Miller in one of the 2025 broadcasts.
