And how is a 18 pressure guy supposed to replace a 45 pressure guy. And as big as he is he’s not a good run defense guy. They could sign pee wee herman and people would be excited. The guy has 18 pressures and his pass rush grade is better then his run stop grade. Lol
The Lions just hired one of the best in the business, Kacy Rogers, to coach the defensive line. Lopez’s past on a 4-13 & 8-9 team doesn’t necessarily reflect what he will do on a team that just finished 14-5 & 15-3 over the past two seasons.
A colleague of mine is a massive Cards fan. I’ll ask him what he thinks when I get to office. I always like to see fan reactions on players…I’ve never heard of the man lol.
I’m pretty sure this is a depth move.
The Lions were caught with their pants down last season with the lack of development of BroMart.
They had no viable backup NT on the roster.
They used Peko but he is not really a NT, and then he got hurt.
BroMart was kept on IR longer than needed because he was unplayable.
They tried a couple of times but guys off the street were better.
BroMart is destined for the Practice Squad unless he has a big uptick in play.
Terrell Williams AND DJ Reader couldn’t develop the kid last year.
Consensus on Twitter from cards fans:
“Plays with tons of heart”
“Good rotational guy”
“Campbell will love him”
“Flashes at times but mostly an effort guy”
So I can see why this staff likes him. Sometimes the right coaching can turn these types into ultra productive players. With McNeil likely out for the first part of the season I have a the more the merrier attitude towards this DL right now. I’d be surprised if Holmes doesn’t add 2-3 more guys just like this in FA
Yeah he might be a good piece he is a big guy that actually has a positive pass rush grade, doesn’t really show in his stats. But I’m ok with him as depth, he is a Campbell type, I’m just laughing at the thought of people thinking this is Levi and Mac replacement. That would neglect . All most as bad as Davenport being depended on to be your starter all year.
There definitely more coming probably the draft , I liked the Davenport signing with Smith there also, I don’t like the signing with a Josh Pascal behind him. It turn sour when we released Smith and have Josh in that spot. It went from pretty good to
It’s a little pricey for a 1 year deal, but it is only 1 year. I think Brad preferred to offer more on a rental contract over a deal that pays less per year but runs longer. For Lopez it’s a solid payday with a chance to put together his case for a new deal in 2026. He should get plenty of snaps with the current state of our IDL.
It’s a 1 year contract for less than 5 million. Don’t know why we would think he’s a starter? And Reeder was coming off a pretty serious injury. Wouldn’t make a lot of sense to cut him when we only signed him for 2 years? Not to mention we don’t know when Alim will be back. I expect the lions to attack the Dline in the draft like the Rams did last season.
Actually OTC doesn’t have Iffy as a comp pick - they have him as only 3.05M…which they are predicting is not top 65% – i.e. below the round 7 cutoff . He doesn’t even CANCEL Lopez, who they have as a 7th. So we’re a minus one right now.
