From my limited exposure I am quite pleased with it. Looked like a dawg as they say
Damm another smurf
Hey Bols, snitches get stitches and not Granny’s britches.
He fits really comfortably under the umbrella of the type of player I look for in FA.
- Ascending, or at least with more of a ceiling to reach.
- Young-ish enough to be at his peak for the majority of his contract, OR
- A short-term deal to try them out and see about their fit with us and talent within the scheme. Like Anzalone.
- Someone who got lost in the shuffle on his prior team. Tampa’s GM Licht is a BPA drafter, and once he drafted Morrison in the 2nd and (crush list alum) Parrish in the 3rd last year, two smaller corners, Izien’s days were numbered. They already have Winfield and Tykee Smith at safety, and Jamel Dean and McCollum also in the defensive backfield. He lost out to the numbers game after playing quite a bit before that.
- For a DB, his versatility. Can play safety or NB.
- His actual talent. Guy is extremely explosive, which he showed with a 42 inch vert. Closes in a blink, makes plays on the ball. And yeah, he’s one of those chirpy “dawgs” everyone loves at DB. Came into the league with questions about coming in too hot when tackling, but has improved quite a bit in Tampa.
- He’d come cheap. If he doesn’t work out, we can move on pretty painlessly.
For all of these reasons he was one of my favorite fits for us.
He is a lot bigger than Amik. I would like to see us draft at least 1 longer CB for the outside with one of those 4th round picks.
Love it Thats2. Perfect signing. Well done Brad!
The villain loves him some little guys. 5-9 195lb safety in the NFL. That’s small for highschool these days.
Quandre had a damn good career at about that size. He should have retired a Lion, but Bob and the Fat Man ruined that for us.
Sounds like our Nickel competition for Rakestraw.
Im good with it. Minimum a place holder. Maximum could be a starter for 5 db sets.

Or he can help us at safety. That’s one of the most appealing aspects.
I hear ya. Definitely a plus.
Yea in 4 DB sets. he could be good. They do still have Harper, Strickland and jackson. Which i would argue are on the same tier as Izien. But harper and Izen both can play that slot a little more. Where Strickland and Jackson are true safeties.
I think between those 4 guys. Im okay with that group. No need to take a high draft pick or expensive FA. not until we have definitive word on BB and Kerby.
I would like to get one more true outside corner on the team one way or another.

Dean signed with the Steelers. Looks like Tampa is losing some DBs.
Synergy baby
In addition to the 42 inch vert…
ran a 4.41 in the 40, had 20 reps on bench (wow at his size!), and had 4.25 in the short shuttle. and a 6.81 in the 3-cone!
.
Awesome move. Hopefully the price is solid.

Edit: whoops. Too slow.
Bump
Yeah the juice was never a question. Clearly very explosive on tape.
He’ll be starting at Safety until Branch gets back, most likely, but, who knows. Nickel is open unless Rakestraw takes it for the first week or two.
