Plus if you screwed up your QB might actually die. So he can perform under pressure.
Because Decker had a bad year last year. People here refuse to admit it.
Sure. But there are 64 starting OTs and Borom ranked 35th.
He was quite solid last year.
What this does is create competition in the room and also allows BH to go into the draft with the ability to go after the best players the Lions have graded out regardless of position.
Ideally they are able to get a long term OT or C that can project as a Pro-bowl or All Pro. Additionally, it gives them flexibility to make trades and talk during the draft with other teams.
I suspect with that the Lions would be OK with trading up and getting fewer players this draft getting a few that can play on day 1. They need some long term solutions on the Oline and defense. Right now the defense feels very thin.
Idk, swing tackle at best.
Skipper replacement hopefully
Yeah I view Borom way differently than a lot of people here. This guy is not the type that allows us to pass on a tackle. Maybe your guy, Jonah Williams, or my guy, Braxton Jones wouldāve allowed that to be a play.
But Borom is basically a Scruggs (whoās also had some solid stints starting) level player. And no one wanted him to start.
Heās better than Scruggs. Iād be surprised if Scruggs makes the team

Heās an improvement over Skipper right?
We are trying to improve not get worse
Cutting decker and getting borom and moving sewellā¦. Idk if thatās an improvement
Why? Because he played ok last year? I donāt see what makes him better
Yes of course. Iām referring to those who feel we can now potentially pass on a 1st round tackle because he signed Borom. Thats just crazy to me
Iām agreeing with you.
Viewing this as anything more than skipper upgrade makes me sad
How many of the rookie Tackles are ready to step in? I donāt know.
The line may take some time to gel, but pieces are coming together.
The most shocking thing about that graphic is the fact that Cornelius Lucas is still in the leage.
Havenāt read the thread, too busy today.
But Borom is a depth guy and can start at RT in a pinch.
Sewell is the new LT for sure
The new RT is coming at pick 17
There is no 3rd party evaluator or grader or advanced metric that has Juice Scruggs better than Borom for their careers.
I think your statement also applies to Borom being a starter in this league.
This team has no DE opposite Hutch, no WLB, no NCB, and questions at both safety positions. Borom is better at RT than all the options we have on the roster for any of these positions. RT in the 1st in not guaranteed.
Obviously weāll address some of these before the draft, but if the draft started today, RT might not even be in my top 3 needs for this roster.
This team made a decision when they signed Jared Goff, Jamo, Ra, and soon to be Gibbs. Offensive line is paramount to this team success. Even at the expense of having a suspect defense.
And you know as well as I do, so do most, this team has plenty of money if they want it. So donāt act like they are unable to bring in guys to fill holes because we are strapped for cash.
If Borom is our starting RT heads are gonna roll about it all season long. You are basically saying itās ok to make the same mistake as last year.
Oh heās not a starter at all.
idk, this move to me screams Penei to LT and if they get a guy they like in the draft for RT, cool. If not, I could see them letting Frazier and Borom fight it out
I donāt see any rookie that we can draft, that they would trust handing LT over to. Iām just assuming here, but Iām reading it that Decker felt disrespected by the numbers/ 2026 rules the head office was throwing out. Unless they go out and get a legit LT yet in FA, I think it is pretty likely Sewell is moving over. Iām sure they hoped Manu would be ready for this moment, but he probably isnāt. The fact that the Lions didnāt try harder to sign Decker, and we donāt have a headliner right now, seems to point to bringing in RT comp and letting the best guy win. Sewell is your LT.
