Lions TRADE! We DIDNT trade 3 3rds

Come on Marty! Mahogany looks pretty good so far. Rodrigo was a 6th rounder too. So was Houston and yes he eventually failed but he did give us 8 sacks one season. Holmes can find gems yet

Thinking Think GIF by Rodney Dangerfield

We dont know on both of those players yet. You can upgrade, but the biggest issue is still the issue every one hard. Get to the qb

It’s also not a reason to ignore the position in 2023, 2024 and so far 2025.

I agree he probably DID botch on bromart. You don’t have a choice whether you trust this pick or not. It’s already made and we all gotta live by it for better or worse.

Unless hutch comes back and breaks another leg or can’t play DE because of the last break we got a big part of our pass rush back without doing anything. We added another component to the DL in this draft to help push that pocket. We got davenport back (healthy for at least 1.5 games  ) Barnes likely serving as rush specialist. Etc.

I get your concern. Unfortunately in their mind the electric car guy was a better value than any other DE on the board. I don’t have a problem with that IF it turns out the way they invision.

So i said they aren’t dumb. That was not implying you said they were at all. Tesla will help next year. Tate will start. Williams will be rotation. This was a depth draft for future stars.

I want a stud de opposite of Hutchinson. Wr isnt a issue. Hutchinson had the most sacks and missed like 13 games. Its pathetic they haven’t addressed it. Do you think the offense is issue or the def. Forget the injuries.

…could be said for any position…and to make such a statement, you would be assuming that’s what happening. What if it’s not? What if it just looks different than you think it should?

Have we just lucked into this amazing roster? I promise you, none of what Holmes is doing is an accident.

When we draft most players, Brad will say, “I’ve been watching him for years.” He’s been watching some of these cats since friggin’ High School…literally.

Also, he’s not doing it by himself. Brad is extremely well connected with college coaches, and the football world in general. In coming years, it gets harder and harder (what she said) for later round picks to even make the roster. We’re gonna see a lot of trading up in the future.

Exactly we have had several 6th rounders getting playing time in recent years

For all those that aren’t worried about our current DE issue on this team: name two guys other than Hutch you think can get us 5 sacks in the upcoming season.

Sawyer & Z’Darius Smith

I’ve been thinking about this. I don’t really think the Lions have set slot receivers after last year. Anyone that lines up inside also spends a lot of time outside, and they run sone of the same routes from both spots.

Davenport, AQM, Levi, Barnes

Coming up with two guys not even on the roster means you’re either joking or recognize what we currently have. If both are on our roster—great.

Leaf is not on here after next year…maybe two years.

JAMO is trending towards extension but nothing is for certain.

St. Brown is locked in for years.

Patrick is not here after next year and his injury history leaves him on thin ice this year.

So its JAMo and St Brown on the roster after this year. Need to get a wr in and acclimated. Need to keep the most important part of the team humming at elite level. The window is wide open as long as goff is in his prime.
So:
Need ol to be locked up w young talent.
Need wrs to be locked up and in sync w goff.

They have plans for DE. Davenport. Smith is coming back, its just not official. And barnes has a role 2 years in the making of a rush specialist lb. They are 100% aware of their need for DE. They liked femi and JTT and landon jackson and they LOOOOOOVED stewart. But not more then what they got. If you are on ghe inside…habe all the intel and see all the vision brad has and disagree so be it…informed opinion. None of us have all that. But brad is 100% aware of the de concerns…he literally has talked about it to the press.

It just doesn’t make sense. You say you won’t reach on the defensive end, but you’ll reach up to draft a wide receiver??

I’m disappointed, because you spotted this guy at the senior bowl. Your scouts weren’t even in on this guy. You drafted bromart in the same fashion

The thing is to them they are NOT reaching though. They invested 1000s of hours into this player evaluation process and subjectively they simply felt that no DE (and probably a whole bunch of other players and positions) on the board was anywhere close to the value / grade they gave to TeSlaa.

Put another way, they didn’t waste a pick on a dude that they thought would suck just because that dude played a position that might be of need like DE. It’s really that simple to them.

They believe in their evaluation system and stick to it. Only time will tell if they are “good graders”… So far they’ve been pretty good!

They use the same philosophy with brodric martin how has that turned out?

Their philosophy isn’t bullet proof
