1pm game on Fox and the Lions are wearing ALL Blue for the revenge matchup game tomorrow. The Lions are a 9.5 favorite to win.
The Lions Top 5 defense gets to face the 1OA pick vs the Panthers who knocked them out of the playoffs last year. The revenge matchup should be a good one.
Adrian Hill is the ref with his crew. Lions haven’t had issues with him, minus a play mostly forgotten because we all knew they were gonna suck in 2021.
During the Minnesota game end of the season, Vikes had a 4th and something (goal?) and Tracy Walker got a clean sack on Cousins. Only problem was Hill threw some laundry that said it was roughing the quarterback. Even Cousins admitted it was ridiculous. I can’t remember if it was before or after this (I think after) in which the crew also took a clear cut TD by MJJ away from him upon the “scoring review.”
The Panthers run defense vs Lions run offense will be a key matchup in this game.
Carolina defense is giving up 4.7 yrds per carry ranked 29th and 136.3 yrds per game which is ranked 27th vs the Lions top 10 run offense that has been also averaging 136.5 yards a game on the ground. I expect the Lions to pound the rock much like they did vs GB.
We would be smart to mix up looks and to blitz against the rookie QB who has been struggling. Young has been slightly improving each game which is a concern. He had a decent game vs MIN and hasn’t made a lot of mistakes for a rookie. Although he’s made a few.
Carolina wants to throw the ball. They throw on 64.5% of their offensive snaps. Young is also completing 63% of his passes and that means they will be playing into the weaker side of our defense. Which is a concern.
These will likely be the deciding factors in the game
Defense steps up again. Puts up 5+ sacks and a couple picks.
multiple delay of game penalties on Bryce Young.
He’s struggled recently with getting the ball snapped prior to the playclock hitting zero, and with Ford Field rockin as per usual, I don’t see that changing.
Josh Reynolds continues to be extremely reliable and has a career day.
Monty and Bam Knight combine to give the Lions an impressive day on the ground, and control the clock throughout the 2nd half.
Lions win 31-10
Big win for a team with such important pieces out with injury, and because of that, the Lions are once again the talk of the league this week.
Yea I’ve watched him play quite a bit and he almost seems a little to relaxed in the pocket. Likes to really work the clock down for some reason as well.
