Like many, I really don’t get the Vaki love. Great special teams, yes, but injured too much and it’s hard to believe that there aren’t half a dozen RBs ≥ Vaki available for peanuts right now.
I actually DON’T think this is true, but when I saw that Vaki and especially Wingo had made the 53, it crossed my mind that maybe, in ways they might not acknowledge even to themselves, the wish to salvage that ‘24 draft class was a factor in their cutdown decision. Could throw Rakestraw in there too (tho’, unlike the others, I would have voted to keep him).

They 100% believe Vaki is the best special teams player in the league. Us fans obviously value that differently (the shrug emoji, basically), but this staff DEFINITELY values it. I don’t think keeping him was anything more than that.

That would certainly make sense of it.
But it’s funny how, from 5 RB, we’ve suddenly gone to 3 - w/me, at least, not feeling at all confident about Vaki if it comes to that.
I have no issues with Gibbs and Saylors as RB1 and RB2. Pacheco’s out and the braintrust won’t give a timeline. And then Vaki. Presumably Small lands on the PS, which currently has no RBs.
I think sadly Pacheco’s back might be fubar. That stinks, I liked him, but like I’ve said multiple times I believe finding RB depth to be easier than most other positions. So, not overly worried about it. I mean Hunt is sitting out there unsigned, like many have said. The Giants just signed Najee off the scrap heap. Antonio Gibson, Miles Sanders, Jerome Ford, Dameon Pierce, Zamir White, Netflix, on and on. Even Trayveon Williams looked good.

It’s gonna change about 147 more times throughout the season. So get ready.

So after some guys complained about keeping 5 rb’s, we barely have 3.
