Had a massive find in eastern Oregon just last year. The deposit is 10-20 times the size of the one listed above.

This country has a ■■■■ ton of everything. Oil, coal, NG, rare earths, lithium, water….all of it.

Our National Resource Strategy has been to trade green pieces of paper for it in other countries because we have the best paper because we have not one but two 4000 mile wide moats, and we have the biggest Navy amd Air Force by far…and nukes…and lasers and ufos and whatever else.

Worked pretty well so far. When we want extra supply, leverage or supply chain security, we go find more of our own, inventing technologies and techniques along the way.

This is why the Peak Oil hand wringing was laughable bullshit. And is now. And will be, as are related agenda based prognostications that utterly and puposefully ignore science, data, common sense and history.

Rocky Mountains. Basically untouched. NPR-1, also untouched. Sea bed mining, undersea frozen methane, deep on land exploration (literally just found 30 cubic miles of freshwater under SLC) untouched…

By the time Any of that runs low, we’ve been to asteroids and the Moon and have micronuclear and fusion and space solar arrays the size of counties and more we haven’t dreamed of yet.

Now let’s talk Russia. Wayyyy more than us.

End of all resource scarcity arguments. It’s actually massive abundance, that’s how absurd scarcity arguments are.

The biggest issue is that we don’t have low wage or slave labor to do the mining so it is expensive here and we have safety standards that need to be met which also adds to the expense.

When they say it’s scarce they mean it’s hard to mine inexpensively and without regulation.

That’s not quite how it works.

Sure, hydrogen and helium are both 1 and 2 on the Periodic Table and in abundance in the universe, but that’s where the correlation ends.

Most common elements in the universe are:

  1. Hydrogen
  2. Helium
  3. Oxygen
  4. Carbon
  5. Neon
  6. Iron
  7. Nitrogen
  8. Silicon
  9. Magnesium
  10. Sulfur

The relative occurrence rate has to do with the physics of how these materials are made. Hydrogen was produced in the Big Bang. Stars naturally make Helium as the main byproduct of nuclear fusion.

Most other materials are made during end-of-life reactions within stars. The physics (which are well beyond my understanding or ability to explain) mean that the other elements listed are preferentially made during those processes.

Once you get much heavier than iron, the processes for making them become even more exotic and rare, which is why they are present in significantly lower quantities.

Good. Because by the way things are going, it might be a good idea to go ahead and start adding lithium to the water supply.

Elon did an interview once saying how it was basically everywhere and easy to get, etc.

No I know what you’re saying, but it also makes sense why we’re finding such HUGE pockets of it.

I hate when I walk outside and have to dig lithium out of my shoes.
