And with all the scandals over the years and their own lack of oversight, internal corruption, etc., they spend all this money in an attempt to look like they care and “save face” when they were complicit in all of it. Even though that’s not a lot of money for them, of course, drop in the bucket.

They had to hire a firm because the athletic department’s response to the allegation is being challenged. Did it have to cost what it did? Who knows. How they respond to the outcome is far more important than what they paid some law firm.
