Louis Riddick trying to get lions gm job mentioning stafford

I think this is 4 interviews more than we had the last time. I call this progress…

I like Louis Riddick, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

I hope they didn’t accidentally interview Quinn again as internal

I disagree … sounded like an accurate observation. Nothing more nothing less.

This reminds me of another Office Space scene where Lumberg thinks he’s just chatting with the consultants but he’s actually interviewing for his own job.

The only thing is want to know about the next potential GM is his draft resume.

It seems most can assemble a staff that can acquire known free agents and work with cap, but the draft is where the shit hits the road.

Show me someone that has a track record of solid drafts. That’s my candidate. I don’t care about talking mouthpiece tv guys.

Endorsements in high places:

Earvin Magic Johnson on Twitter: “The Detroit Lions should hire ESPN’s Louis Riddick as GM. He has front office experience, an eye for talent, and I know he will pick the right coach to help the Lions win! He is someone I have the upmost respect for. @LRiddickESPN” / Twitter

Glad to see the team doing their due diligence. I really hope they go a different direction than Riddick. How long has this guy been out of NFL orgs? 8 years? Might as well be 18 years in the NFL.

Pass.

I see what you did there…

I think that before you hire the GM you should hear who he plans to get as a HC and interview that HC.

Basically hire them as a pair.

Still can’t believe Mayock landed the gig in Vegas. He ranked Sanchez ahead of Stafford. That’s one evaluation that would have cost him his job.

Anyone know if Riddick has done positional rankings, big boards or Mock drafts in the past that we could look back on? Would probably tell us a lot.

What it says about Riddick is that he is not an ignorant Lions Fan. Anyone with any credentials is going to want Stafford. Every GM candidate coming in will understand his value and will speak to it. Stafford should be in the interviews and should have been for the other hires. He is the franchise. Nothing is a full rebuild in the NFL unless you are dumb enough to trade a 32 yr old generational talent.

CashRipley I found this

I don’t think mock drafts he would have done for one of the major networks would mean that much. As Pat Kirwan said, the thing he hated the most about releasing mock drafts when he was under the thumb of the network was the mock that was released didn’t match what he truly thought. He said with all of the big mock drafts you have bosses that have you flip things around either to be different from your previous mock or be different from other people’s mocks to increase clicks. Even when he’s reviewing someone else’s mock on the radio he often gives a disclaimer of “this is just for discussion purposes, remember that this probably isn’t exactly what this person thinks.”

If you understood this issue you wouldn’t look for imaginary idiot stats and the statement would be obvious.

It’s true. We shouldn’t look at the stats. Look at the intangibles! The rings! The division titles!

Just want to win nfc north once from Rodgers , then rest is history. We can say all about reed and Alex smith , see the difference mahomes made in one year , 28 to 35 points in a stretch , everything is possible , let’s start with fixing the base and everything will play in place .This is not nfl 101 , this is common sense
