If the rumors of a questionable commitment to fitness are true…
and I would imagine they are since it has been made public quickly….
then I applaud the move by Dallas.
I’m sure it is difficult for NBA to take a stand when a star player is so valuable with their crappy salary cap rules…
but nice to see a lazy player cost himself significant cash for failing his team.
I think LeBron without the ball in his hands becomes an even bigger liability. What’s he going to do all of a sudden massage down that massive ego to fit into being Bogdan Bogdanovic, hanging around on the edges of the Court with no control over the game Flow?
Is Floppy King going to all of a sudden develop a post game?
He has never ever been the second best player on a team and not the primary ball handler/ focal point of the offense.
I’m sure that’ll go just fine. Totally fine for 41-year-old guy to follow sudden start banging and having to play some d while hoofing it up and down the court instead of the walkup offense
See I think it’s a win-win as it’s kind of a reset on both sides. The Lakers know they can attract Talent, so they’ll work on surrounding him with the type of guys he needs to succeed long-term cuz they probably expect him to play there the next 8 years on a 3-year extension Plus a five supermax after that. The Mavericks may have felt like they were at their Peak they weren’t going to get there so do you hang around like the 2000s New Jersey Nets and just basically get some participation trophies for the semifinals every year or do you commit to your strategy. I’m not sure that saying that you think defense wins championships and having Kyrie Irving on your rosters very congruent but maybe that’s the deal maybe it’s a full reset. Build around ad with shooters and Kyrie you can get to the basket on anybody. Their role players are pretty good actually so I’m not sure they’re going to see you down period too long
Well except for the 91 f****** points they give up in the first half today unbelievable
I kinda get why weezy is saying that. This trade, to me, signifies LeBron’s exit from LA after this season and the Lakers will put everything into building around Luka for the next 12-15 years. Luka is only what, 24-25? Yeah they are gonna build the team thru and around Luka. Sucks for Bronny!
but if Luka is as lazy as the reports are suggesting….
he may not have a very long career.
edit to add… how many calories do you have to eat to gain weight when you are 6’7” tall and paid to run 3-5 miles per night on the job… plus practice work???
Also…. don’t these teams have required conditioning programs?
If I were an owner paying guaranteed salaries… that would be pretty high on my list of job requirements.
The only way I can process the trade is looking at LeBron and “the decision.” But instead of LeBron moving on for nothing, this is an alternate reality where the Cavs are able to “trade” him and get something in return. Even though the trade doesn’t add up to what LeBron was worth back then.
My immediate thought is this probably isn’t like an offensive lineman who might have to eat 6,000 calories or more a day to keep the extra 100 pounds that keeps him from getting ragdolled. Nobody wants Doncic to eat 2 pounds of pasta a day and I strongly doubt that he is. If I had to place a bet, I’d say the extra calories are coming from alcohol. Not that I can judge him for it as I sip my second beer of the evening.
At the same time though my employer doesn’t need me to be in top physical condition to do my best at getting insurance authorizations. As long as I show up to work sober and don’t forget how to make the best case for why a patient needs further treatment I’m golden.
