I’m curious (pun intended…as he would intend) what @CuriousHusker thinks of this.

Seems to eliminate him from the PSU job.

I’ll be honest I haven’t paid much attention to Nebraska. Has he turned things around?

Whatever. He’ll get them back to the Pelini level so that’s a start. But they’ll stall out there. I imagine there will be some years where they have playoff level talent and his wretched game day coaching blows a game or two and pushes them out.

They were so close from a roster standpoint. Just whiffed on a war daddy NT and two competent tackles. The OT play has just crushed them. Oh and Donovan Raiola should be fired but that of course has to wait.

He’s a great guy, whose players love him and he does things the right way. He’s just overrated as a coach.

Do we have to keep him because he came as part of a package deal? It seems there are some talented guys on the O Line to work with but they absolutely suck as a unit.

Yeah, they screwed up big time esp with Pellini not giving him the time to finish what he started. So now, even if you have the dough to play money ball you couldn’t sign the players you wanted because they see a better chance for getting on the NFL radar by going somewhere else. By extending him it tells potential players that they shouldn’t have to deal with several makeovers while they get up to being draftable. A hail Mary but one I think they were right to do.

Pelini’s regime was fading a bit. And then he acted like an ass. But they definitely downgraded thereafter. Rhule I think is at least on Pelini’s level. We’ll see. I just meant that they were close this year roster wise. Just missed on three tackles (one Nose and two offensive tackles).

He wasn’t acting…but he got close to getting it right.

True. The one silver lining with Rhule is that when the program inevitably gets restless with a 9 to 10 win ceiling in day 2032 or something at least the cupboard will be stocked, NIL program humming and what not. He’s good at a lot. Good eye for talent, good at all the CEO stuff but the game day coaching is close to bottom of the barrel IMO. Or say bottom third to be generous.
