Marino also played in an era where receivers could get the sh-t kicked out of them. Now it’s all “PI” all the time. Much easier to put up huge yards.

QBs, fairly or not, are measured by wins and big games they have won. Stafford has never won a big game in his career. That is not going to get him in the HOF. I will bet almost every QB in the HOF in the SB era has probably played in the SB or at least a few Championship games. I can’t imagine a QB getting elected into the HOF without winning a playoff game.
Guys like Manning, Brady, Brees, Roethlisberger, EManning, Rodgers, and Wilson are all probably safe HOF QBs that are playing at the moment or recently retired Those guys are all excellent QBs, have nice stats, and have won SBs.
Was Rivers a better QB than Eli? One will be going to the HOF, the other is borderline. And if a guy like Rivers or Matt Ryan aren’t going to the HOF, then there is no way Stafford will without a SB appearance or victory.

The Lions were a hobby for an old automotive billionaire , they were not a franchise built to win. WCF had all the money in the world to ensure that the Detroit Lions would-be a winning team…but WCF didn’t give a damn if this team won, as long as it made him money. Martha showed a little more passion and care during Lombardi Gate when she fired 5 guys for poor results. but nothing ever changed. for the Lions to excel and get a bowl, WE have to have the leadership to direct the players correctly. This team has failed for 60 years because WCF did not make sure that the team had a steady history of notable experience in winning or bowl wins , He didn’t bring in knowledgeable football minds from across the country, individuals that know how to get a team to win , they didn’t ensure they had the best scouts, GM’s, OC’s , DC’s, O-line Personell, or HC’s to direct, guide, and mold this team decades ago. SO, here we are in 2019 hoping like hell Quinn and Patricia , and now Bevell are able to correct mistakes and make the team produce at a higher rate AND WIN . we lost before, because that is what we were built off from ….in the teams’ creation. The Detroit Lions was a damn hobby . The City of Detroit wanted their teams to win and The Detroit Lions to, but the foundation was weak and it never changed. The team is a direct reflection of that. 2019??? who knows?
