What do you guys think of Max Melton?
The reason I ask is I’ve done a few mock draft simulators and he seems to land to my pick a lot (like Sam LaPorta last year). And I just saw that he was one of the guys who shined at the Combine. 4.39 Forty and over 40" vertical.
Could he shoot up the boards enough to consider at our first pick?
Liked him for a while now. Stood out whenever you saw Rutgers playing. Looked like the best athlete on the field. Combine showed us why.
I really like Max Melton. I was just going to post about cbs i love after the first rd. I really like Caelen Carson, and Hart as well. I like TJ Tampa but i expect him to go high second rd.
He has a few qualities that I think the Lions will like…
#1… he is a very willing tackler.
#2… good on special teams (4 blocked punts 
)
#3… high RAS score.
#4… football family. Dad and brother both played at Rutgers, with beother Bo in the NFL now. Mom also played basketball at Rutgers.
The four blocked punts in college is huge. Lions obviously value Special Teams and put their money where there mouth is, and I think Melton might be higher on their board than some people believe. Four is not a fluke.
He 's played very good against MICH. Aggressive, willing tackler, blanket coverage, quick. He might be gone by the Lions 2nd Round Pick. I like him a lot.
Well since Hoodie is no longer around to Hoover up every Rutgers player under the sun there is a chance.
He was rated higher last year prior to deciding to stay for a 4th year. He’s never gotten much recognition from the Big 10, but he’s always had the tools.
Might make the team as back up CB/ST guy. 5th round pick maybe?

I think he will be a 2nd round pick and it would not surprise me if we were the team that takes him. I expect him to be gone before we pick.
Still salty about him taking Devin McCourty a couple spots in front of us. Really wanted him that draft.
