This would be great! He’s #1 on my board.
Wonder who he would look to as HC.
I’m not big on Saleh, so I would prefer someone else, but hiring Dimitroff would be an awesome start.
Great find my man.
The Dimitroff/Saleh ties are there so I better warm up to the idea
.
To be honest, I’m so battered from the succession of Millen, Mayhew and Quinn that any candidate the Lions have interviewed outside of in-house would overjoy me.
And finally someone who has experience doing the actual job…
Hopefully it’s true… BUT, with no direct quote or any supporting information, I suspect it’s click bait
Well, FWIW, I’ve followed Aaron Wilson since he was a beat reporter for the Baltimore Ravens in the early 2000’s. He posts a lot of contract info. I’d give credibility to what he says.
Well, I am not against it. He was an ex-pat but proved he could put together a roster in Atlanta. Although I would say a few things, he reminds me a lot of mayhew. I seem to recall the falcons consistently having Offensive line trouble and keeping Ryan safe. I actually wasn’t a fan of their trading their draft to move up to get Julio Jones…they were not one piece away. Not opposed to it.
Saleh Head Coach
Dan Quinn DC
Darrel Bevel OC
I’d be very happy with TD. Very happy. But I’m not going to put a lot of stock into rumors right now. In 3 days somebody will report Riddick or Dorsey is the favorite to win that job
Dimitroff is from a football family. His dad coached and played in the Canadian league for a number of years.
The experience in Atlanta is a major plus on his side.
Does he know just how big of a rebuild is he getting into and will the Fords allow him to run the show.
I recall many years ago that Bill Parcells wanted to turn Detroit around but he was told that he would not have input into player decisions. Bill said NO.
I know Aaron well. He has connections and knows what he’s talking about. Very underrated sports journalist. Shocked he hasn’t been nabbed by a bigger network yet.
Whoever gets hired won’t excite me. Just like when Bob Quinn got hired, I’m taking a prove it approach.
If Thomas Dimitroff is hired as the GM, who would he hire as HC? Here’s a 2015 video on bringing in Dan Quinn as HC for the Falcons and the transition period.
TD was an area scout for the Detroit Lions back in 1994-1997 and was the 2008 NFL Executive of the Year.
He has connection to Dan Quinn, Former HC of Atlanta Falcons and DC for Seattle Seahawks (2013/2014 best defense). Both were fired after the 0-5 start in 2020.
DQ had three losing seasons but also made it to the Superbowl with Atlanta.
He has a connection to former Houston Texans HC and New England Patriots Offensive Coordinator Bill O’Brien (2007 in NE).
He also has a connection with Robert Saleh through Kyle Shanahan. Saleh has a stronger connection to Ed Dobbs than TD though.
A HC Robert Saleh, DC Dan Quinn/DeMeco Ryans, and OC Darrell Bevell/Mike LaFleur is a possibility.
Dimitroff has been successful in the GM position before, and that’s something this franchise hasn’t had in…well, before my time.
I’d be all for this hire.
He’d be a good hire for sure. I hope we see the more aggressive/upside oriented version of him. His drafts seem to switch towards need in the last couple years. When he’s aiming for upside he does pretty well.
Watching that video, you could see Spielman nodding along to that.
I’d like to hear his answer for what went wrong in ATL.
