McAfee: Lions only team that can challenge 49ers

In the NFC. He debated it with Stephen A Smith. I need to watch the rest of it but Smith thought it was the Cowboys but agreed the Lions were legit. Smith has concerns after our losses to Chicago and GB — can’t say I disagree but I love McAfee’s enthusiasm.

Link to video is on ESPN. I’ll link to it later.

Nobody competing with SF in the NFC

Kirk Cuzzy got them when he was on a heater at home in a dome.

Browns at home is the nastiest Defense in the NFL

And Cool Joe Burrow.

That was it. When San Fran was banged up on the OL and Deebo was hurt.

Ain’t happenin again

SF home healthy in that long nasty wet grass

I feel like Dan’s team does its best work when people doubt them. I can promise you that it’s Detroit, and not Philly or Dallas, that is the last team SF wants to see in the playoffs.

I don’t think SF cares who they play as long as it ain’t Mahomes or Burrow

Of course San Fran should be the favorite, and are going to be extremely tough to beat. With that said, we can compete with them for sure. All it takes is one or two bad bounces for things to go our way. Our offense is good enough to drop 30, even on that defense. They really need to put the past few weeks behind them and go into the playoffs playing on offense like they did last week.

SF just has to stay healthy. Trent Williams and Deebo went down and they were a shit show for 3 weeks. Easily the best team in the NFL right now.

Lions @ SF

Would be a repeat of this

Teams have bad games, i posted when the ravens game happened that as recently as the tb buccaneers with brady has a team as bad as the lions did and won the sb. It has happened more times than you would think. With that said, it is certainly not the expected end to this season.

Anyone remember the 2007 undefeated New England Patriots going into the Super Bowl against the lowly New York Giants? It’s all about match ups, getting lucky, being healthy, getting a fair whistle, players stepping up, and good coaching. No team is unbeatable.

Steven A’s justification made 0 sense… “lions have been up and down, so have the eagles, which is why i feel the cowboys”

Have the cowboys not been the definition for up and down this year…

Just got paddled by the Bills.

They also got beat by two scores by the cardinals and dobbs and got ran off the field by the 49ers already.

I think the 49ers are clearly top with the ravens but they can be beat depending on health and matchups.

With that said, the cowboys just showed on national tv that they struggle to stop the run that is where i think we have an advantage in the matchup conversation.

Also, from the same video, we are “number 1 redzone defense since week 9” that cant be true right?

Nobody is saying we would beat the 49ers. We are just disagreeing with you that we would stand no chance.

I am just worried about winning our first playoff game in 30+ years. The rest is gravy. 2024 is when the real expectations start for me.

Thanks for posting that Nate.

The Lions are a young team that’s still learning to win. Because of that, we were certain to have some ups and downs this year.

But…

If last weeks game was a ‘finally putting it all together’ game, and the team actually took the next step…watch out!

I know bro

I’m just keeping it in perspective so when the day comes we don’t burn the Den down

I would never ever be happier to be wrong in my life

Did McAfee literally do a segment on SOL last week?

Ya and immediately retracted it this week… its media folk they are 100% reactionary, if the 9ers lose to the ravens badly and the lions clinch they will also start saying lions may get number 1 seed. Its just the way these things work…

They also say things that are easily proven wrong in real time, like stephen a saying they currently have lost 2 of 3. Guy was a week late in that take/stat

I definitely think we’re the best matchup for SF in the NFC. We match their physicality and scheme better than Philly or Dallas could dream of.

Not only do we have the offensive line to give Goff time, we have the weapons to stretch their defense. Jamo and Jahmyr would be the fastest two players on the field at any given moment, and while Fred Warner is an absolute animal, he can’t cover both St. Brown and LaPorta at the same time (I don’t think). Goff is also a good enough processor to not get confused by any games they could play with their coverage.

Then, we have the swiss army knives necessary to cover all of the multiple sets SF can run with McCaffrey, Deebo, Kittle, and Jusczyck. Branch and especially CJGJ can cover two if not three guys on that list by themselves. I like the matchup of Sutton againt Aiyuk. Kerby is shutting down anything they’d try and throw deep middle. It’s just up to our front 7 to stop their varied running game. Luckily, they’ve been practicing all season against the closest thing in the NFL to it.

yeah… I’m not a huge fan but watched in the pandemic. I liked the fact it was a bunch of guys giving their opinions. Now its slick and corporate. Don’t trust the takes anymore.
