Green Bay was playing a bunch of backups on offense as well. So shouldn’t what you are saying apply to LaFleur’s decisions. And yet those decisions one him the game.
The argument is pretty ironclad. Green Bay won the game bc they were aggressive on+14 on 4th downs. It’s very clear that is what happened. Dan said so himself and Dan is correct.
Now if you want to play passive on 4th that is fine but in this case that locks us into to being -14 on fourth downs. We saw time and again over the last few years other teams losing to us bc of less aggressive high leverage posture.
That being said I still dislike not making it a one score game. I really do believe the first one is fine. I’m ambivalent about that one.
But going in your shell on 4th down in the 2025 NFL is a losing proposition more times than not.
I love both you guys not trying to side with anyone. St. Brown and LaPorta get most on our 3rd and 4th down conversions. Defenses know that. But they weren’t playing so I just think that changes how you call a game. Just my opinion. Stopping Gibbs on a 4th down run is way harder with more weapons on the field. Packers sold out to stop Gibbs cause we were playing without Goff’s 2 favorite targets.
Tbf on both occasions the playcall addressed pressure.
Dan was clear. He messed up the first call. He was pretty sure that he was in the right one on the dropped pass and it turns out we were. We just didn’t execute a routine NFL play.
Also, keep in mind that I watch Nebraska football. Rhule doesn’t rust his guys to make key plays. It’s infuriating. I’d rather have a coach error on Dan’s side.
That never bothers me one bit. I get a little annoyed by people denying numerical realities for instance. I think that is tied to us living in truth adjacent times.
