MCDC what’s he thinking?

This deserves its own thread
If not just delete it @nate sorry

After watching Michigan score to make the score 19-20
Kick XP
Then go to win it in OT

Does this change his strategy ???
Going forward…

Well big difference from a regular season game that at the time was questionable on its effect on seeding verses an actual playoff game

Trust me MCDC had plenty to consider before he had the UM example. Plus college OT is not even close to an NFL OT so this is kind of a silly discussion

I get what you are saying but not enough similarity to really discuss IMO

It should be the strategy if it’s an evenly matched game, if you have your starting QB and if your kicker is upright.

A 2pt conversion ranges from 40-55% success rate based on circumstances. Lions had momentum. I would have gone OT.

No an he kept his word to the O he told them before last drive if the score he will go for two Thats exactly what he did. Monty said that at end of game an he said he is a great coach. That was a big deal to the team. Also some looking at what happened yesterday an using it to argue against the HC.

If your honest how many thought Eagles lose to AZ at home NONE. You don’t make your calls based on what you don’t know will happen next day. The fact he kept his word will count on team moving forward.

Well their HC Gannon was Eagles DC last year.

It’s like Patricia beating Belicheck.

Wasn’t that far fetched

I know what he DID.
I’m asking…does this impact now what he WILL DO going forward?

I mean 20-19 exact same scenario/ score…differenet appraoch.

Better outcome

I dont think you can compare nfl overtime to college overtime with any real confidence

I think Dan was seeing red. He was so pissed, he was going to shove it up their, ah yes, and break it off.
It just didn’t work out that way.

What does he do NEXT time…?
Same scenario

Your thoughts?

He tries to shove it up their, ah yes, and break it off.

Next time

Home he chooses tie the game

Away he chooses go for 2

Based on much of what I have watched and his comments it really is based on each situation. I do think he is a next play up guy all the time. And the past results likely do not impact his decisions

The above was kind of a joke because of the whole idea that on the road you need TDs and you go for 2

Dan Campbell would go for 2 from mid field. That’s what. 3 personal fouls on the Lions. ■■■■ it. Lets go for 2 from the 47 yard line

I would not change one damn thing about Dan Campbell.

That would be like changing a brushstroke on the Mona Lisa.

Had that been a playoff game I think DC sends the game into OT. He DEF does it once the penalty pushes them back.

Not every team has a kicker that can hit +60 yards and thinks 70 is makeable. Plus your playing in their house. I dont think Dan’s thought process was flawed at all. It well could be different against a different team.

If the same scenario presents itself in the playoffs or in the Super Bowl, driving down the field down 7 inside two minutes, Dan Campbell is going for 2.

If there’s then a penalty on the Lions that pushes it back, then I hope he would play the odds and take the XP, but in the first instance he’s definitely going for 2.

That’s just Dan Campbell.
