Pretty smart potentially. Not sure it needs to go all the way down to 53 but I think having a spot or two open and seeing what opportunities arise makes quite a bit of sense.

Player coach or not, you don’t risk putting yourself in a bad position to help some bubble guys? That conversation probably happens weekly when they’re churning PS guys, so I highly doubt there’s an aversion to it.
I hardly think that we’ve put ourselves in a bad position. There are several players on the league cuts thread that I think are significantly better than anyone that we’ve lost. I also assume that Z is likely incoming.

Yea there’s definitely a plan in place and honestly why keep 3 players only to have to cut them tomorrow if you know you are bringing guys in.

I would hope there’s a plan in place because entering a season with 3 DEs (one of which can never stay healthy) and 2 actual safeties is borderline lunacy.
