Oh duh. I forgot about that.
The Lions probably figure no one will claim Hassanein because he has the torn pectoral muscle which will keep him out for an extended period of time during 2025.

My prediction that since no one else was put on IR (Aside from Z Turner which hes definitely out all year)
Is they put pre season designated to return on Rakestraw and Jackson. Doesn’t count against the cap and doesn’t count against the 8 activations until they are activated
But only keeping 8 healthy DL and only 8 healthy DBs is very odd. Especially with the young promising talent they had

That isnt a thing anymore is it? Thought IR is IR for return purposes the last few years and that you didn’t have to commit a player to a spot in the event they can’t return before the season is up.
Edit* nevermind I see it is a preseason thing that helps avoid having to have them on the initial 53 and 2 players can be designated that way. Interesting
Can’t do this, they didn’t count against the 90 man in camp. They are done for the year, can’t return.

I don’t think Z or any other significant move is coming for Week 1. I think they roll with 50 + whatever claim(s) they get. They’ll promote from PS for Week 1 where needed. Z, Lynn, Skipper are all options after Week 1. My $.02

They can go on IR during preseason if they don’t fill their spot on the 90 man roster.
Or they can go on IR at cutdown, while they were still part of 90 man roster.

Also i was mistaken “the 2 players DO count against the teams maximum designations”
So if they did place those 2 and they never come back, they are down to 6 activatios
