Micah Parsons Contract Details. (Not what it seems)

@DeadStroke

Its really just a 3 year contract at $73.652m

$18.68M aav for 3 years then a $17.6m dead cap in2028

hell NEVER play under that contract in 2028. Hell be extended restructured or traded before then

So $154m in FLUF

I don’t know much about contracts but it has to be more than that. He has 120,000,000 guaranteed. So if they cut him in 3 years they still have to pay him at least 120,000,000 which would be 40,000,000 per year. At least I think this has to be true.

No . . . If you are looking at it from the Packers perspective, you can rationally call it a $124M/3yr contract ($41M)

Cap hits and AAV are not interchangeable. Cap hits account for the goofy amounts team call signing bonus (option bonuses), APY or AAV is cash due. They are reporting $136M guaranteed with $120M fully guaranteed at signing, which suggests that some of 2028 should become guaranteed, likely part of 2028 salary, becoming guaranteed in 2027, so the dead cap in 2028 should be higher.

It’s not fluff. Fluff is when yearly cash in the late years exceeds yearly cash in early years.

Cash equals

  • 2025 - $45.2M

    2026 - $40.8M

    2027 - $38M

    2028 - $41M

    2029 - $45M

Final year might be a little fluffy, but considering it’s five years down the road, not really. Jason @ OTC does a great job breaking down Parson’s contractand explains why it would be difficult for the Packers to get out of anything but the final year.

From the Packers perspective, they can view this as a huge win. They traded two firsts and Kenny Clark for Parsons, From a cash perspective, they saved $20M APY by trading Kenny Clark, plus they won’t have to pay two first round picks ($5M APY each). The Packers probably view Parson’s contract as a $210M/5yr contract ($42M APY) and could argue that it’s further reduced by $10M because they won’t have to pay two first round picks.

So looking at it from the Hutch camp what kind of numbers do you think they are looking for? Just kept hearing 47 million an season and not sure I see that.

@DeadStroke

Im confused on this.

So through 2027.

C. Cash $124m

C. Cap hit $56m

Yet if hes cut its only a 17.6m cap hit. WHY???

Its a $68m difference?!?

Also worth noting. It looks like the Packers honored his 5th year option as a LB not a DE.

De was only ~$21m and LB was ~$24m

But im still confused

Like how can the packers get away with that contract?

Like Parsons agrees to it because he knows. Yea hes getting cut/traded/extended/restructured before 2028. But hes getting 41.3 AAV. Cash. And packers like it because its only 24m aav on the cap.

I feel like this is a MASSIVE loophole

Like yes the packers have to pay $124m over the next 3 years. so money out of the pockets of the “share holders”

But the cap???

Jason has an error, he’s only including the signing bonus in the dead cap figure, he hasn’t added the two option bonuses to the figure. For the cap savings, he’s treating the option bonuses as if they were cash payments each year (which they are not). His dead cap and cap savings numbers are way wrong. He’ll probably see his error when he gets to look at the actual contract and puts in the vesting dates of future guarantees.

Dead cap should be:

  • 2028 - $67,954,400 ($64,288,600 - $41M + acceleration of $44,665,800)

    2029 - $44,665,800 ($68,288,600 - $45M + acceleration of $21,377,200)

Cap Savings would be:

  • 2028 - Negative $3,665,800 ($64,288,600 - $67,954,400)

    2029 - $23,622,800 ($68,288,600 - $44,665,800)

Not sure what you think they are getting away with.

They’ll pay $124M in cash over 3yrs, recognize that $124M against the cap over 4-6 years (depending on if they keep, trade or cut him).

I am so glad we have DeadStroke to clarify this information on contracts because it would take me weeks to figure it out and understand it. I just want to evaluate draft prospects.

Thanks Thank You GIF by Zypto

Yea based on the contract details, and how the guarantees are structured. By the end of the 2027 season. Hell have $152.9m in cash paid + future guaranteed money. So that means at a minimum his dead cap should be $29m after 2027 not $17m

So yea the math aint mathin on OTC. Gotta wait for the corrections i suppose

I might have missed it in another thread, but what does this mean for us and Hutch’s new deal? Does it hurt us?
