Michigan Sports

Overall has there ever been a time like this?

Lions considered elite
Pistons, Tigers, Redwings all possibly playoff bound on one calendar year.

Umich football and MSU basketball top 10 but not championship caliber maybe.

UM basketball program rebuild at a ridiculous pace.

Seriously this is a crazy time.

MSU Hockey as well.

It’s the 4 wins in a row over OSU that do it for me. I just love how they’re losing their minds over in Ohio. This last win when our team was complete sh*t was really the icing on top. That was LOL worthy. Lions need a championship to top it.

WMU Hockey. They are the ones who are still in it.

Honesty uofm and any program can build fast with the portal. Uofm and most of ever team in the tournament still is portal team. Like i told @frm710 i really liked what uofm did in the offseason. Its fair game for every one

Still won it all. Probably a much harder path then uofm.

I’d say early 90’s were close. The redwings were on the upswing, the lions had a nfc championship appearance, the pistons were coming off back to back championships and the tigers were still competitive with an aging core. Michigan had a rose bowl win and another lost to the national champion huskies. Msu was also solid from what I remember.

If only we still had Ernie harwell and Keith Jackson calling games.

Add Bruce Martyn calling Red Wing games to that list.

Yeah I don’t think they are worried about anything when they won the whole damn thing. And I hate OSU.

Still how cool is it to see all our teams going off at the same time?

I can’t fully agree with this. First it takes money. Then a coach who can actively integrate the pieces and has enough in game skill to make it work. A great first year to be certain.

Look at their roster or anyone else’s

I enjoyed Dave strader and mickey redmond on pass for the wings.

Broncos into the Frozen four! If Sparty can pull it off tomorrow, Michigan would be the only state to have teams in both the basketball and hockey final four.

Grand Valley just won the D2 womens
hoops championship yesterday as well

The four (pro) major sports. Red Wings are going to disappoint all of us.

They dont have The Guy or The Other Guy.

They have a bunch of Hey He’s a Nice Player.

Guaranteed mediocrity. Reminds me of the Stackhouse Pistons

Mid 2000s were pretty good years professionally - for pretty much everyone except the Lions.

Lions started 6-2 before ending 7-9 in 2007. Close to playoffs. Other than that, they were pretty much hot garbage.
Pistons were in their streak of like 5 years with making the Eastern Conf Finals. Won Championship in 05 and lost in the Finals in 06.
Wings were dominating in the mid 2000s with multiple Presidents trophies and a Stanley Cup in 07-08.
Tigers were in the Leyland era and went to the WS in 2006.

Even with the Lions sucking, we had 3 teams that were consistently elite in that era. Hard for me to say it’s better now than it was then, even if the Lions sucked. We definitely don’t have 3 teams that are championship worthy professionally right now. We have one (Lions), and a few teams that may make the playoffs and not make much noise.

Last time the 4 pro teams were about this good was the late 80s/ early 90s.

Also Michigan Football winning 5 Conference champs in a row.
Michigan basket all Fab5
Michigan Hockey multiple Frozen 4s
MSU hockey Frozen 4.
Msu basketball and Football were meh.

Before that you have to go pre WW2.

But the Wings arnt there yet. Maybe next year (weve been saying for 5 years now)

But it was pretty bleak there from 2015 until last year.

lol both Umich and MSU bball were good. Umich had a great first coaching season and Sparty made the elite 8 with a weaker roster.

When Shaun Rogers picked off the screen pass and housed it… Super bowl talk was on the table… Lol
