MLB pitching triple crown still up in the air

So Skoobie has the AL triple crown sewed up. And as it stands, Sale has a slightly better ERA while Skoobie has three more strikeouts, so each would prevent the other from the overall MLB title. They both have 18 wins.

Buuuut…
Sale COULD start one more regular season game. They play a doubleheader against the Mets. The Braves would LIKE to save Sale for the playoffs. But they need at least a split to get in. So,

The Braves are starting a hot rookie in game 1 today. If they win, they’ll save Sale for the playoffs and the stats remain as is.

But if the Braves lose game 1, they’ll start Sale in game 2. In that case, Sale could become the MLB triple crown winner if he wins, gives up 2-3 earned runs (per 9) and has four or more strikeouts. Alternatively, if he gets shelled and has fewer than three K’s, Skoobie would get an asterisked triple crown, since they would still both have 18 wins.

I’m rooting for the Braves to win game 1. Skoobie missed his last start, so it would be even.

In 3 months, nobody will even mention any of this. Skubal will simply be known as a triple crown winner.

Miggy and Skubal. The last 2 American League triple crown winners.

The Managers should just agree we win the 1st one and we will gift you the second game on purpose. If they split… Zona is eliminated.

Would love to see drunk baseball players in game 2 :joy:

Who ever wins game 1 will certainly bench all their good players for game 2.

A split seems most likely.

Exactly… Be pitching guys not making the playoff roster…while all the starters are partying in the clubhouse.

Curious to see if not starting Sale in this game will bite the Braves.

I think they are hoping to pull game 1 out, and then save Sale for tomorrows playoff game.

Exactly what they are doing

So glad the Jays season is over… What a nightmare. 88 losses with a 250 million payroll. And the ass clown President and GM both appear safe to keep their jobs. Terrible.

I really thought they were going to be a great team this year.

I think it’s more about the division they play in than anything else.

The draft lottery is going to be important for you guys.

Yea…division is brutal. Gotta try to play .500 ball in the 52 division games and play .620 ball against the rest of the teams to make the playoffs. Difficult.

Well, so far so good up early; 2-0 over the Mets

It’s supposed to just drizzle for about 20 minutes, but damn, wouldn’t that throw a monkey wrench into things?

Mets did damage against former Tiger Joe Jimenez who was the first trade in the Harris era iirc. Tigers got Justin Henry Malloy and another pitche who I think is no longer with Detroit.
