This was at the end of the last article @FreebirdPartDeux posted.
The versatility that defined his college career at Georgia Tech and Alabama is expected to continue in the NFL.
Over his three college seasons, Gibbs amassed 2,132 yards rushing and 1,217 receiving while scoring 23 total touchdowns. Last season, while at Alabama, he averaged 7.0 yards per touch while rushing for 926 yards and hauling in 44 passes for 441 yards.
A healthy Montgomery may serve as a throttle on the rushing yardage.
Playing all 17 games equals….
60 yds rushing
30 yds receiving
IMO the receiving yds will be blown out the park. His ability to be a home run hitter in the running game will determine his 1000+ yds rushing.
Nailed it. He’s gonna crush the receiving, and 60 yards per game seems doable, especially with a couple of explosives mixed in.
Oh and welcome to the the board!
APY all time record 2,696 yards. You can do it, Jahmyr.
Best lions apy of all time, 2358 by barry in 1997.
I think that gibbs if he is what he is billed to be he will break that while on his rookie deal.
Welcome to the Board, was just at NAS in Pensacola three weeks ago.
I know I know, AF but still…
Good post!
do I think Gibbs can do it-yeah…in his first season??? doubtful–I’ll eat Crow if he does.–THIS season.
NFL Insiders discussing this now, NFL Network guys are buying in.
Saying that with Ben J it could be a lot more and could you see 2 guys hitting 2000yards, it wouldn’t be a shocker
Both guys hitting 2000 yards? Count me as someone who would be quite shocked by that.
Me as well, it has happened one time in the past iirc. They said it is rare tbf to them.
Just rewound
Tom Pelissaro took the over for Gibbs on the 1000 and the 500 both
Mike Garafolo says 800rushing yards, and 500 passing yards for Gibbs
Ian Rapoport really believes that Ben Johnson will use Gibbs in unique ways and that Ben will unveil something tomorrow against the Chiefs that everyone will be tweeting and commenting on during and after the game.
Go Air Force!
Ex-SP.
Welcome brother AF!
Para Rescue?
Nice!
Hey, your name wouldn’t happen to be “Kelly”, would it?

It’ll all come down to staying healthy for Gibbs. I hope the guy kills it. But I also think Ben Johnson is going to be smart about his usage. Monty will probably get more carries than Gibbs.
Gibbs is clearly a stud athlete, my only concern is his size. I believe he’s under 200 pounds, after he was drafted I remember him talking about the Lions wanting him to add a bit of size to hopefully help with durability.
I will be pleasantly surprised if Gibbs can get 1000 rushing yards this season.
