Honestly I think this team is better than a lot of fans expect.
It all hinges on our OL… which I expect to be far better than last years.
15 wins is definitely possible but I think 12-13 is likely where we fall. The division is just too damn good.

see I think it all hinges on OA health of the team, we stay healthy for the most part , then we accomplish more as a team.
yet through the past handful of seasons, we get bitten by the injury bug , maybe not thee most injured ball team, but we had our share and it has cost us., that said I do think we have to break away from x number of injuries, maybe it’s this season and I’m wanting to find out-bring on the season !

The obvious answer to the success of the Lions season hinges on the O-line. Talent is better hopefully doesn’t take them long to gel. We have playmakers all over the field, getting LaPorta back is going to be huge.
I’m going to go in a different direction. How this team responds at the end of November and December is going to let us know what this team is about. 3 games in 11 days including international travel and the T-day game. ( Bullshit ) Then 3 of our last 4 games against division rivals. If they respond to that than I think we are going to make a deep run in the playoffs.
I think we win 13. I really hate how the scheduled us to be on the road in week 17 & 18 vs Chicago and Green Bay. Like we could finish 12-5 but 0-2 limping into the playoffs. I think it’s kind of BS honestly…

I want the Lions to win it all and I bet on a couple stepping stones toward that. But I’m not praying for anything because Dan Campbell will do the ‘splainin’ for me. I can take whatever fate has in store for us with Daddy Dan making it comprehensible and valorous.
Just don’t judge me on Gamedays. I may not be of sound mind.

I don’t understand this line of reasoning. Even with last year’s OL, the offense was still one of the top-rated, and it seems impossible to fathom how this year’s iteration could be anything but markedly better.
The real make-or-break, in my mind, is going to be the defense.
If we’re stuck with another bottom-of-the-barrel performance, this team will likely be .500ish again. If Shep can improve to an average defense, the Lions should be in the thick of things for the division and be a tough out in the playoffs. If the D can be in the top third or top quarter, this team will be a favorite for the Super Bowl.
I’ve got zero questions whether or not the offense is championship caliber, even if the OL doesn’t completely gel right away. All of my concerns are on the defensive side of the ball.
The reasoning goes like this: The weakness of the OL last year led to more 3-and-outs and failed 4th-down conversions. The lack of ball control lost us time-of-possession, created more drives for the opponents, and forced the defense to play with more unfavorable field positions.
All these factors led to putting more pressure on the defense – which, combined with too many injuries, caught up to them in the back half of the season.
Had the offense been better able to pound the rock and protect the QB, we would have been able to play with a lead more effectively – forcing the opponents’ offenses to be more predictable and giving the defense more time to rest between drives.

That doesn’t make any sense.
The offense was #5 by both points and yards. They were #8 in time of possession, #7 in turnovers, and #11 in first downs. It was a top-quartile offense by basically any measure, even in what felt like a down year.
There was no shortcoming of the offense that put the defense in a bad position. The defense’s struggles were not in any way due to the offensive line. If anything, the Lions defense had it easier than most, not harder than most, and it was still bottom-third.
Honestly I don’t understand your line of reasoning. Cool our offense beat up on shitty defenses that manipulates the stats. Against top 10 defenses our offense struggled and struggled bad. Why? Because we couldn’t run the ball or keep Goff standing up. What was Gibbs and Goffs numbers against top 10 defenses? Look up those stats and you will completely understand my point! Our averages were inflated against shitty teams! That’s the bottom line!
