I got into racing about 15 years ago and maybe followed it for about 5. Watched mostly NASCAR and Formula 1. It’s interesting for a bit. That sucks for Busch. So very young.

Stuff gets misdiagnosed all the time. I wouldn’t necessarily believe there wasn’t something going wrong with him a week ago.
A NASCAR racer died young of a sinus infection…. Wow that’s hard to believe.

Apparently a sinus infection can go into the brain and potentially cause life threatening conditions such as meningitis. Not saying this is what happened just surprised something like a sinus infection can even lead to death.
Supposedly he was under the weather during last week’s race but powered through. Some really cool video online with him with fans. Seems like he was a mensch. An eleven year old and a four year old suddenly without their daddy. Heartbreaking stuff.

My Dad contracted meningitis from a sinus infection. At the age of 76. Was in a medically induced coma for two weeks. They called him Miracle Man when he pulled out of it. We got ten bonus years with him before he passed (Alzheimer’s).

According to the TV broadcast, Busch had been struggling with a sinus cold that was exacerbated by the intense G-forces and elevation changes at the New York road course.
Busch finished the race in eighth place.
Busch competed at Dover last weekend and won the Trucks Series race for Richard Childress Racing. He finished 17th at the NASCAR All-Star race.

It’s very sad news. Guy is younger than I am. Even in today’s modern medicine, anything is possible, both good and bad.
The sinuses are still a part of what is referred to as the triangle of death. It does not take much for an infection to jump into the brain, and if it does, this is what can happen.

So, jumping in here. This is super tragic. And I don’t know the details, but nurses / docs anywhere can tell you that a sinus infection must be monitored closely. While rare, when it escalates, it can do so quickly. Not a big jump for bacteria to make from the sinus to the brain.
Also, fellas, invest in a proper nose hair trimmer. An ounce of prevention.
That reminds me: NEVER PULL YOUR NOSE HAIRS. Another easy way for bacteria to go to the wrong place. I could tell you nightmarish tales.

Yeah, that’s what I was going for. Easiest way to get a sinus infection.
Use to be a big nascar guy till they made cars suck balls. went to MIS yearly.
Never was a Kyle Busch fan. But one year he raced in the Arca race in toledo. And i got tickets to ride in a school buss driven by Kyle around the track . Was pretty cool. Definitely a shame. Taken way too soon
