Nate Burleson: Detroit Lions will have best running game in NFC North Bold prediction from the former Lions wide receiver, but is it plausible?

Anything is possible. I would still go with the Vikings by a lot. Even Mattison was a really nice RB2, their third RB had 5.6 ypc and theiri 4th RB (Ameer Abdullah) ran for 5 yards a clip.

Aaron Jones with 16 Tds, Cook with 13 and our best RB has 6 total in his career.

We have a long way to go. I think Swift will make things better. Hopefully TJH progresses and becomes a great run blocker as well, but I would still expect us to be the 3rd best running team in the division.

Gonna depend a lot on our defense. If were playing from behind it’s hard to run much in the second half of games.

Lions had 1649 yards rushing last season–the most since 2013 when Bush, Bell, and others combined for 1792.

With more talent, the Lions should crack 2000 yards in team rushing for the first time since the Barry Sanders era.

Saw an interesting Twitter fact yesterday. Said that in Stafford’s 149 career games that he has only had a 100 yard rusher 10 times! His record in these 10 games, 8-2.

Losses were to the Titans in 2012 (44-41) and to the Chief last year (34-30).

I just hope with the resources thrown this way we will see some results!

I suppose it’s plausible to have the best running game in the NFCN, but only if our RBs stay healthy and our OL improves it’s run-blocking. I liked what Scarbrough was able to contribute, and I’m excited to see what Swift can bring to the table, plus hopefully a healthy KeJo and either TyJo or that fast little guy from New Mexico. I don’t think he’s stout enough to take that many snaps with the accompanying bruises, and maybe he needs more time to learn the ropes like TyJo did. Detroit RBs have to do it all and do it well consistently; some guys can adjust faster than others but I don’t think we oughta hang too much on a rookie.

A better running game, even if it isn’t the best in the North is a good thing. It keeps the defense off the field a little longer and wears out the other defense a little more and that is a good thing going into the 4th qtr. People talk about conditioning, well if the Lions can pound the ball more and stay on the field longer then it’s the other team that may have a bigger problem with conditioning than we do when it counts.

In 2016, only four teams cracked 2,000
Every year since the number has increased up to 2019 with 10… running the ball is becoming a thing again!

We only need 300 to crack that …

Either thru more attempts and keeping our 4.05 Ypc or increase our YPC as well…

And I would to see us go top ten in rushing TDs in the RZ this yr…

Bevells system is now in year two…

I feel good things coming!!

It sure would be nice to be in a position to play keep away late in games with BO pounding the rock and with this O-Line imposing it’s will in obvious run situations …Might even be shedding a tear worthy to actually see it.

But for a poor coaching decision and a miscommunication between Raiola and Hill, the Lions tie that game:

4th & 1 at TEN 7

(6:41 - OT) Sh.Hill up the middle to TEN 8 for -1 yards (J.Casey). The Replay Assistant challenged the first down ruling, and the play was Upheld.

Last year teams went 83-30 when a rb went over 100. That’s a winning % of 73%.
12 of those losses were by Carolina, nyg, or Cleveland. 8 were in a game where both teams had a guy go over 100.
Brady has a win % of 82 when getting a 100yd rusher. Brees is over 75%.

Also playoffs team with 100yd rusher went 5-1… the only loss? L Jackson vs Tennessee in which Henry went for 195
