This would be a championship team

Haven’t seen it anywhere here, but the Pistons picked up a 2nd-round pick for cash and drafted a shot-blocking 7-footer without much offense. But gives them a 3rd center behind Duren and Reed after dealing Beef Stew.

That is a strong statement when they are losing a guy that averaged 4 points per game in the playoffs.

I don’t know the validity of the source but at least it’s a talking point to discuss as we wait to see what Langdon’s plan is

Fullcourtpass on X: ā€œJalen Duren was underwhelmed by the Detroit Pistons’ initial offer in restricted free agency and is planning to explore sign-and-trade scenarios, per @sam_amick (https://t.co/svINgMLefw) https://t.co/otpoNDDsncā€ / X

If it’s true I’m encouraged that Langdon isn’t wilting to Duren’s demands. The sides will more than likely come to an agreement eventually but it’s something interesting to discuss in the meantime.

Given that he’s a restricted free agent, Duren literally doesn’t have a choice.

He’s free to try to get a better offer from someone else, but he will be on this team next season.

Also, if this is true, which I don’t think it is, then you have to look at making this part of a deal for Jaylen Brown. Boston wants a center very badly.

Seems unlikely that would happen or we would have kept Stew, no?

Who is the starter at center then. Pistons also as of now dont have a starting pf. And no as much as I love Paul Reed he isn’t a starter.

Feels like Langdon is calling his bluff.

that playoff performance in general was so bad it killed his value.

hard to say if someone does hit him with the Max, but if they do… yeah hes not worth it

I seriously doubt Duren isn’t on this team next season. He has very little leverage in this whole thing.

Lakers could still offer the max to Duren but…. yeah that would just kill them and Duren as shown rn aint exactly a playoff performer, even if he fits really well with Luka.

hard to say what he gets, a JB trade is possible… maybe trade Duren to the Bucks for Herro and Ware?

some options if they do go down this route.

We shall see

It’s most likely posturing and that there will be some resolution that keeps Duren as a Piston but it’s interesting that Langdon isn’t bending the knee for Duren. It gives me some hope that he knows what he’s doing.

Of course I’ll take all that back if he signs Duren to a $40m+ contract but I’m holding on tight to that optimism until then.

I mean duren has poor judgement he once dated angel reese

Duren and a pick or two for Jaylen Brown solidifies the backcourt for the next several years.

You’re not getting a MLE center that’s nearly as good as Duren. To get Hartenstein we’d need to be a cap space team, which is the wrong way to manage our assets. You’d have a black hole at the 4, we’d be taking on more salary in a trade anyway, and you’d have much less depth than we had this past season.

I don’t really see a scenario where we’re a better team with Jaylen Brown than with Jalen Duren next season…because of what that move means for the rest of the roster.
