Iād be shocked if Jalen gets $45M per year. There arenāt many that can sign Duren. They all rely on a sign and trade and for the Pistons to take on a $40M player. And the two teams (Sac and LA) mentioned have zero assets worth Jalen Duren. And that includes Sabonis. Sabonis does nothing better than Duren. And heās much older.

Thr scenario is that theyāre matching the Lakers 4 year $177m offer sheet. Thatās a crippling contract for a player as limited as Duren. Iād take the two 1sts and fill that spot with a cheaper center and have a bunch of assets to bring in a real #2 option.

Thatās the path the Pistons are taking by signing Duren to a max contract. Itās a big mistake unless he shows some serious improvements in this game. Duren at $35m/yr I could live with, Duren at $45m is a tough pill to swallow.

You get that heās 22 right? If you look at where he was 3 years ago and now, thereās no reason to believe he wonāt improve. Iām not willing to give up on him because he had two bad playoff series. I just refuse to be a creature of the moment. Iām not giving him away for Sabonis who isnāt as good as him and certainly not for two first round picks.
