While not a volume three point shooter he does create the spacing that Duren does not create by not even being a threat from that far out and people simply don’t follow him out that far and he never goes out that far anyway. This is the problem with the Pistons offensive set they have two offensive players you can sag off of because neither one of them is a credible 3-point threat whether volume or not volume is less the issue when you look at the overall issue creating spacing on each set down the floor

Only way he doesn’t sign is if he holds out for the season. Thats not going to happen. He signs offer or a QO in which he must ball out to get his be deal as a free agent.

So still no news on jd. Dude is playing a bad game and I think he will lose more money then what he wants as days pass by

The Pistons probably offered around 4/140 (avg 35) or 5/180 (37).
He could have gotten 4/177 (avg 45), but Lakers, Celts, Nets didn’t come through.
So, there’s no incentive for us to go higher, we’re not going to bid against ourselves.
Our offer stands, and Langdon is probably saying: you’re move. Unless we think he’d really sign the QO (9.5M) and go to UFA next year, I guess JD may have some leverage there, so honestly, there’s no rush on his part either.
All appearances from the season was the JD loved Detroit. Now we’ll really see his true colors.
I have a feeling that this is going to be a long, drawn out process.

35 mill per year seems pretty fair for both sides. His playoff performance is what cost him alot of money. Nothing else. No way could you watch the playoffs and come away feeling that Duren was worth 45 or 50 mill per season.
I think his agent filled his head full of things that just wasn’t a reality.
We want him to sign a four year deal. If we think there’s a real chance that he won’t, I might go more than $35M. If he makes alot of noise that he’s going to go one year with the QO, and we believe it, I’d prolly go up to 4/$160 or $40 per year.
Let me rephrase by saying I’m a magic fan and i have no dog in this fight but what exactly did you want the pistons to do? Brown wants to be the first option and that wouldn’t happen in Detroit.

To find a number 2. Other teams can do it why cant the pistons. On paper pistons can shot better but I dont think its enough.

in my mind its very close. we’d have to manage Durant for a couple years so that he’s fresh for the playoffs. Like, the opposite of what we did this year.
I hear you on Murphy though, good chance we’d have him longer than Durant. Either one for me, I won’t get picky.

I view Durant as a clear tier+ above Murphy. Obviously the age thing is a big factor, but it’s also one of the reasons Durant might even be available in the first place.
