So I have a point system to help better identify who are the worthy teams.

Its based on the System used for Ohio High School Football

Rewarding teams more for wins over higher division schools. And less for wins over lower division.

I have it broken down into several tiers
But basically
1 - Top tier is the historical top teams.
2 - most of the rest of B10 & SEC and a few others excluding the bottom feeders
3 - the rest of the P4.
4 - the historical top of Go5
5 - rest of FBS.
6 - FCS or D2 opponents

And so heres my current top 25

Also my computer system DOES NOT included the Conference championship because its virtually pointless now.

As for historical data.
Heres the top 30 over the past 20 seasons (excluding Covid) scaled to favor more recent seasons than past

Only because a Go5 needs to be in.

But yes it favors North Texas over Tulane and James Madison.

Total points all the group of 5 are out side of the top 25
