NCAA Football Tier List/ Super League Projection

So i made a post last off season talking about a new NCAA Football super league and used multiple factors (including revenue, TV viewership, NIL etc) over the last 15 years to see who would be in a theoretical super league.

Well this year. I only looked at Football performance. But over the last 40! Years.
1985-2024. Looking at final top 25 rankings as well as National championships/ runner up.

And heres what i came up with.

Dynastys: always in the top 10 and have multiple championships

Blue Bloods: Usually in the top 10. Always in the top 25. Has a national championship or multiple runner ups.

Great: alway in the top 25. Sometimes in the top 10. May have a championship or runner up.

Good: mostly in the top 25. Rarely top 10. No runner up or championships.

Above Average. Occasionally in the top 25.

Average: a few top 25 appearances

Not that good: rarely ever in top 25

Meh: 1-2 top 25 appearances

Bad: has never appeared in the top 20. In 40 years.

Should be FCS: only recently joined the FBS and hasnt really done much of anything.

So in my opinion take the top half of teams. (Average on up) thats 64 teams.

Basically the current power 4+ ND And Boise St.

Remove: Maryland, Rutgers, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Duke, SMU, and UCF.

And done.

Nebraska in the North?
Pittsburgh in the North …

Just how it broke down.
The west needed 2 more teams.
The options were
Nebraska and Minnesota, Kansas and Kansas St or Oklahoma, Oklahoma St.

I thought Kansas and Kansas st worked the best.

As for Pitt. I wanted to Keep the Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Pitt together since thats a long standing rivalry (Big East Days)

If it worked i wanted to keep Penn St in there too. But simply couldn’t make it work.

Just how the map fell.

Nebraska is the only team West of the Missouri River thats not in the West. Penn St is the only one JUST past the App Mountains thats not in the east.
