New Disc Golf Thread Spring 2026!

Tried to carry on my last summer thread but closed. Anyways. Here goes

Continuing the discussion from Disc Golf!?:

@edmunder I’m starting to get it bud. Have been learning the flight numbers. And now I got an Innova Leopard that actually turns right when I throw. I also have a few cheap discs that fade big time left but I have learned how to throw them. I’m far more consistent with overstable discs that fade left, but I’m learning to throw others. I just throw backhand, my forehand is embarrassing to say the least.

My 2 favourite discs as you asked for last fall are probably the MVP Terra and Leopard.

I couldn’t play for 4-5 months cause of Canadian Winter…. But I find myself addicted to playing again this spring. Such a fun sport.

Answer here or send me a DM. I’m also considering hitting the UP for some new courses if anyone plays up in the UP? Or has any suggestions.

Both excellent discs. The Terra has a lot of forward push for being so overstable. The leopard can do all sorts of things but certainly can go right.

My favorite disc is probably the Crave. It can go straight a long time and get it in different plastics so its more or less overstable but feels the same in the hand.

This year my goal is 400ft and I am inching there bit by bit over the years.

I don’t play in the UP but I know Marquette or that area has some really good courses. I’m so lucky to live in west MI and there are probably 20+ absolute gems within a couple hours and 4-5 really top places within 45 minutes so I just play those again and again. I also spent a couple years rebuilding a course near me.

I have a whole series of racks filled with discs and I give away 100 or so a year to kids, teenagers and people getting into the game.

I appreciate the detailed reply brother. It sure is a fun sport. I just started researching the Crave. Haha now I want one.

Any advice on throwing forehand. My backhand is decent. Can throw 275 or so, but my shoulder is already starting to ache and I know I need better technique. My forehand might be easier on the shoulder.

That’s so awesome you give away discs to the kids. Get the kids off the screens outside and throwing aces. Props to you my friend.

Disc golf is very technical and its hard to explain what to do. If it were easy, everyone would be bombing.

For forehand, get a disc like the Crave and slower disc like a Zone. Don’t try to throw hard. Just practice throwing on different angles. Chop forehands, flex so you throw it anny and wait for it to hook back, especially a disc like the Terra.

Like skipping a stone. But you can really ■■■■ up your shoulder and elbow pushing hard on forehand. Its all about timing and getting the energy into the hit point, smoothly. If you push, you can tear something.

For me I was throwing for a long time before anything clicked.

Have you tried standstills? That is a great way to figure out bracing and you can move up from there.
