I always loved Three Rivers Stadium … not that the stadium was super great…I just loved that it literally was named for the fact the name described the place where it was. Before naming rights just made every stadium a Corporation Name.
I also liked that back when the Pirates were actually a competitive team team with Stargell and Clemente and Parker it was nicknamed “The Blast Furnace”
As obsessed as this place is with giving every player and position group a catchy nickname (with most of the attempts being cringy)….THAT was a catchy nickname
