New Safety Rotation/Bears Game Snap Counts

Snap Count Bears Game

Very interesting. Moseley and Vildor no defensive snaps but Iffy played 80% of defensive snaps. Wow, 1st game back. Branch and Iffy hide their roles from nickel position to box safety. Very smart. Great game to learn from. Amik Roberson moved to outside CB. Explains some struggles as that is different for Amik and also a great game to use as a learning game.

Iffy seems to make everything come together as he is also a great blitzer.

We need LBer help for Jack Campbell.

It appears that is one of our safeties gets injured we go to a nickel look likely moving Amik inside and Moseley or Vildor would step in as an outside CB. Smart.

We need more from Reader but Levi is looking good and appears healthy too. Very good news.

I think that was likely the plan all offseason, playing a ton of 3 safety looks. Unfortunately Iffy just hasn’t been available to play. We did it last year down the stretch and in the playoffs too.

What struggles? Look at Amik’s numbers. He, Iffy, and Branch went off! They had a fantastic game.

This is what I hoped they’d do when Arnold went out… Amik is a valuable asset being able to play inside and outside. I had a debate about his ability outside with a poster, who shall remain nameless, and how he’s probably better there than the slot. Players like Amik and Branch allow Glenn so much flexibility… Iffy too, but just like I said before the season, he needs to stay in the box, Iffy in coverage is not good for the Lions.

I’m talking about a few small errors that went into the Bears two TD drives. Iffy also had a couple miscommunications but that is to be expected.

I think this is the D the Lions want to play. Iffy makes this possible.

I now expect Iffy to be re-signed as I think he lives his role here and when healthy the Lions love him. Iffy should be a cheap re-sign.

I LOVE Iffy and Branch switching positions as that helps hide coverages to a degree. Iffy is also a great blitzer and we need that.

Win Sunday, get this current D more reps and see if we can make a run.

Wasn’t me because I’ve had that song on repeat since they acquired him.

His argument was based solely on height… Completely disregarding his play the previous 3 years for the Raiders… Amik was brought in to compete, inside and outside, Arnold being drafted relegated Robertson to the slot until injuries started popping up and Vildor continued to be a weak spot.

I think so, too.
That’s why when Iffy went back on IR, they went out and got Jamal Adams, a safety who can kind of do similar things as Iffy, just older and a step slower at this point.

Please tell me you mean Davis rather than I just haven’t yet found out that TA is hurt too.

TA missed the 11-24 game against the Colts.

Lions played a TON of 4/2/5 vs the Bears.

Most so far this season.

Typically they are pretty close to 50/50 On 4/2/5 and 4/3/4

Iffy and Branch are just so good at the outside corner blitz. Hard to take them off the field when they can defend against the run and pass and blitz.

I personally think people have been overrating Amik all season. He’s not will Harris but he’s also not rookie year AJ Parker

He’s never been that great playing inside

We needed him there since Iffy was IR

Now that CD3 is out we move him outside

He will excel there. Scrappy solid dude to fill in for our #1

There were several on the board that pointed out how well Amik had played outside so no surprise to see him there when Iffy came back (with CD out). Branch can play inside cb and Iffy does well at safety albeit small numbers.

All good points!

Iffy, Branch, and Kerby is a very ELITE group to play FS, SS, NB…. Or whatever verbiage we choose to tag them with…

Robertson was an above average outside CB in LV, and Arnold has shown signs of being a solid starter at times. Overall it’s an above average secondary even without CD3 in the lineup (with Iffy back that is)…

I do however wish Glenn and Campbell would accept what we are, and what we are not in the front 7… as we stand-

Z Smith- is a sufficient DE, but not a top 15 edge nor is any other player on our roster at top 50 edge in the NFL…. Paschal nor Levi have the skill set to get 4/5… let alone 7-9 sacks opposite an EDGE1…. We’ve now watched Allen and Caleb embarrass our edges by simply outrunning them on the perimeter and throwing downfield.

Purdy, Darnold, Hurts, Love, Mayfield all have legs to simply run away from Levi or Josh and their complete lack of speed. Stafford has such a quick release and WRs who can get open quite easily- and thus not winning early on the edge essentially causes a problem there too…

What should we do?

Edge- Z Smith/
ILB- Jack Campbell
MLB- Anzalone/JRM
SLB- Muhammad/Nowaske

5Tech- Paschal/ M Adams
NT- Reader/B Mart
DT- Levi O/ C Smith

I think having 3 DL players with some skill and quickness inside the tackles, and Z Smith and Muhammad setting the edges and keeping contain from anyone getting outside could funnel back to our ILBs and safeties.

It’s our best shot at holding decent teams to 27 points or less, and letting our offense do what it does best and score 28 plus.

Lining up ZSmith against OTs with a double, and hoping Paschal can beat a RT and get pressure one on one without cheating contain is a fools errand athletically.

Yea, I’m not going to spend much time second guessing Glenn and Campbell and what they are doing to this point.

They know far more than we do with regards to positives/negatives of each player and utilizing them against each opponent.

Reminds me of Leyland and second guessing that was posted here a while back.
