If he can’t correct the short pass problem, he’s not going to make it.
You figure, they couldn’t correct it at the college level, but, can in the pros?
I’m sorry, I’m just skeptical. NFL defenses will simply force him to throw short passes. He’ll be a pick machine.
If BJ stays over taking a HC job, it will be because of the organization as a whole, the community and him not wanting to uproot his family. It’s not going to be because of a project QB waiting in the wings
In fact, if he brings the Goff Lions to the playoffs with another top five offense his cachet will be higher than ever. There’s no professional upside to sticking around and trying to build a new offense around an inconsistent, inaccurate project QB
I’m pretty sure you do the opposite if you want to keep Ben Johnson around, you don’t draft a QB, you draft weapons for Goff instead…but yeah, regardless, if Ben has another great offense, he’ll get offers he’s not going to be able to refuse no matter what or who we draft.
And if you’re a good GM, you’re not drafting for this coach or that coach, you’re drafting to make your team better.
He would have to make huge improvements just to get to the level of Justin Fields, who is currently trending towards a bust. Safe to say I avoided the Richardson Kook Aid.
I always ground myself in the fact the next one will be the first one. Plenty of “best athlete” QB’s have come out and been declared the best. Show me the list of them that have won a SB.
Not sure. Richardson is a much more natural thrower of the football than Fields. Obviously AR has to tighten up some things but that’s a pure stroke that he has.
I don’t disagree with that. I’m just saying considering Goff was considered refuse. that riding him to back to back top five offenses will peak his cachet
BJ will be the hottest commodity and top sought after HC prospect there is.
That’s why I say there’s no professional upside to him wanting to stay to develop a prospect after next year. Even if AR kills it
There is downside though. If Goff moves on and AR struggles here and our offense production drops then interest will cool significantly
An above average QB, who does well when he has good coaching and players around him. Let’s just say BJ would relish the title of being at the helm of developing the next ELITE qb for the NFL.
