NFL Combine Notes

Keldric Faulk said on a PFT video today that he’s doing all the underwear tests. I’d prefer that he didn’t and was an option at #17 for us.

Based on his tape I don’t think he’ll crush the agility drills. It might help more than hurt us. We can cross our fingers.

I know. If he pops in the shuttle and 3 cone–at least above expectations–he could be out of reach. Still, trading down a few spots for more draft capital is part of my current draft dreams. Let the draft come to you, Brad…

Agreed, his range is pretty wide. Good testing could put him in the top ten, bad testing could push him out of the 1st. I suspect he falls somewhere in between.

Zion Young is intense and team oriented and most likely to get suspended when a teammate starts a fight on the field. You’re getting me intrigued about this guy, @Thats2 Sniff him, Dan.

He went viral for the way he responding during/after winning a coin toss this season, I’ll try and see if I can find it.

Well here’s a story about it. I think there’s a video in there somewhere.

The Detroit Lions met with Florida DE Tyreak Sapp :eyes:

Sapp lit up when he was asked about playing on the other side of Aidan Hutchinson

“That would be NASTY… wrecking havoc in people’s backfields… I’d love to play for Detroit.”

If his arm length isn’t some major problem that people have been worrying about, then I’d be for it.

But he’s not the pass rusher I want or that I believe we need. I’d be upset if he was the “solution” opposite Aidan.

The thing I disagree with our staff on more than anything is the archetype of player they want at that spot. That’s what’s driving their entire defensive structure that I can’t stand.

Might be a great day 3 value if he’s there. Gotta poke the flesh a bit.

We already knew Caleb Banks was a freak, but in case anyone forgot:

Which is also funny because they are using it to define the defense but not willing to pay for it. At least not last year.

DetNews: Detroit’s Caleb Banks sounds like he could be good fit for Dan Campbell’s Lions

He told reporters at the NFL Combine on Wednesday that he can play any position along the defensive line, from the 0-technique (right over the center) to the 9-technique (outside of the tight end), which could make him an interesting selection for his hometown Detroit Lions, who love versatile defenders in the trenches and are in the perfect range to select Banks with the No. 17 pick.

But that’s getting a little ahead of ourselves. To solidify himself as a first-rounder in the upcoming draft, he’ll first need to convince teams that his ceiling as a prospect overrides concerns about the foot injury he suffered this past season and how it affected his game, and his lack of tape over the last 12 months.

Caleb Banks: “A lot of people told me that it wasn’t gonna be possible for me to come back last year.”

“I’m extremely motivated,” he said. “God put me in this situation, and he blessed me to be here after everything that happened, so I’m happy. I’m happy to be here and I’m ready to work.”

Banks (6-foot-5, 330 pounds) began his college career at Louisville, where he spent two seasons with minimal action before transferring to Florida, where he become a legitimate NFL prospect. But his final season with the Gators was cut short because of a foot issue that popped up in spring camp, intensified in fall camp, was aggravated during his season debut in Week 3, and kept him on the shelf until Weeks 13 and 14, long after Florida’s season had completely fallen apart.

Nobody thought he would make it back — heck, why would he want to? — but he did. Of the things currently holding Banks back, toughness is not one of them.

“A lot of people told me that it wasn’t gonna be possible for me to come back last year,” he said. “But I talked to my mom, she helped me through a lot. I talked to God. My mom told me my story’s already written, and I knew I was gonna go back and participate in games. I wanted to play with my brothers, I wanted to finish hard with my teammates, no matter the circumstances.”
