Everything about him screams us.
Except, you know, the way he plays the position.
Booooo
I could live with it at 51 I guess, but man, Edge Cooper went at 45 and I had him 2-3 tiers above Hill, why can’t we be talking about a guy like that? Hill’s flashes are eye-opening, of course, and the highlight reel magnifique. I just don’t know that he’s actually, you know, a very good LB.
Seems like perhaps we’re hunting “disruption” from the second level. Don’t hate it. Don’t hate it at all. Would make sense for Jack Kelly to get a look as well.
If a team gets 2024 Hill in the second round it will be one of the biggest coups of the draft.
It’s and but … but ….

Cleveland is known as an high end run defender. Makes sense with neither Lopez or Reader under contract. Not really interior pass rush solution.
could be related.
Interesting. To me Murdock is very much MIKE only, but he does create a lot of turnovers. I guess where he’ll go he might be a backup for Jack, which makes me wonder if Rodrigo is part of the plan going forward or not.
I don’t know much about him honestly. Still digging through the deeper combine names.
I’m not sure that guy really exists. He benefitted greatly from the talent around him and very little attention, once that changed, things didn’t come so easily.
Of course that might be a story too, another IF just like yours, but certainly possible as well.
Mostly I think this boils down to a difference in what we look for in a LB. I give instincts far and away the most weight. As long as they meet a certain threshold of juice, give me the reader of the game.
You like the guys who have to be accounted for. The unicorns. The impacters. The guys who make you lean forward while watching.
Obviously you want the instincts too, just like I like the unicorns, it just comes down to a difference of how much we weigh these things. I’ve seen more middling athletes with good instincts hit than freak athletes with middling instincts. I come back to Jamin Davis, Quay Walker, Malik Jefferson, etc… I know none flashed as much as 2024 Hill, but imo they all have some of the same weaknesses.
They interviewed Barham too. See him as a Sam.
So they seem to be targeting different spots but prioritizing playmaking.
He lucked into one of the most statistically impactful LBer seasons by a 19 year in recent CFB history?
That’s a take I guess.
Ha, yes.
No, it’s not luck. He obviously has plenty of skill.
To me it’s like Harold Perkins’ first year. His strengths were allowed to shine by his circumstance, but then once other teams reacted and took them away, you have what we have now. I think the same thing could happen/is happening to Hill.
Honestly after following the visits so closely last year, I feel like I was misled. We barely met with any WRs and yet drafted 2. At DT we met with Harmon a couple of times, and I think Kenneth Grant at the local pro day or combine, but did we meet with any other? I mean I know we met with Tyleik but that was another we didn’t know about until afterward.
In fact WHO we meet with probably matters more than the position, Brad is a fall-in-love-with-a-player type of drafter more so than a position targeter. One of those WRs we met with after all was TeSlaa, and of course as mentioned we met with Tyleik.
I just think Ant is a style of LBer. He’s the FB equivalent of a low OBP slugger.
Ooh, that’s a good way to put it.
Actually I think slugger is a little too high of a ceiling, that would be more of a sack artist or turnover guy (Marcus Peters?). Individual plays that swing games at a moment’s notice. Hill’s more like a 3-and-D wing, with middling D. He’ll pop off when the 3s are dropping and contribute heavily to a win (though few individual game-winning plays), but when they aren’t dropping he could be a liability.
Depends on which version we’re talking about. 2024 and 2025 were not the same player.
AQM college prospect version.

Lions also had a formal meeting with TJ Parker which is unsurprising. Formal meeting with Mesidor as well.
Right, none of that is surprising. I expect we’ll meet with all of the non-DPR edge rushers.
