So let’s momentarily simplify this. There’s only 2 players available at 17. Do we prefer Caleb Banks or Keldric Faulk? And who do we think our FO is more likely to take in the same admittedly contrived situation?

I prefer Banks, but he’s far more DT than edge. 6’6, 335 (and look at that broad jump!). He’s built very similarly to Chris Jones.
Edge is probably the bigger need, but for me Banks has the much higher ceiling, and I almost always lean that way.
Would our brass? Depends. Faulk is probably more in our FO’s wheelhouse as a person. That’s not to say that Banks isn’t - he fought to return late this year so he could play the last few games with his teammates even though they were meaningless - but Faulk is really noted for his football character. Banks seems to be a quieter guy. Which isn’t a problem - Gibbs and Tyleik were like that too - it’s just from the outside looking in, Faulk is more obviously us.

He’s a guy who pops on the tape as a unicorn DL freak. Now I know he was injured last year, and that we really need an edge and not another DT, but talent-wise, he looks to me to be in the ballpark of a Chris Jones, Jefferey Simmons, Richard Seymour All Pro type dude.
He is very similar to Jones, in both size and profile. In fact he’s a BETTER prospect than Jones, who had some real effort questions. There’s a reason he lasted into the 2nd his draft year.
Nice numbers for David Bailey right there. Assumed he’d check out shorter and lighter than that.

Does Brad go BPA or fill the gaping hole at RDE? I think Banks’ raw tools are off the charts, but you’ve got plenty of DT talent in Motown right now, and not enough Edge. Sure, Caleb says he can play any position along the DLine, but the fact is, we really don’t have any examples of a guy that massive (6’6” 327lbs) playing full time DE in a 4-3. Reggie White was a monster and really found his true home at LDE in Green Bay, but he was 6’5”, 295 and ran a 4.6 40. Banks is 30lbs heavier than Reggie. FWIW, Banks attended Southfield High School.

Not surprising really, I heard a lot of people predict 4.5 flat, good that he actually pulled it off though

I like him. Probably like him better as our third safety. Like that he could play either safety role in a pinch.

Remember that clip at Stanford that I sent you where he opens up in the open field? Crazy long speed. Think he might be even faster the longer the distance. Not that it’s relevant for an EDGE.
Right. I mean, it can’t be a bad thing but in the end isn’t that important. But yeah, should be a few scoop-and-scores over his career.
