We’re a little more than a week away from the NFL draft.
… which means it’s time for my annual reminder of how technology works.
… because no matter how many years I post this, I have dozens of you messaging me or complaining in the thread that people are posting a pick before they see it on their TV.
Say it with me: there’s no way to prevent an entire forum of users from spoiling a draft pick until your specific delay catches up to the live event.
Time does not, and cannot, be slowed down just for you.
So … if it is critical that you first learn of the pick through the Commish walking up to the podium and unsealing an envelope, let me be clear: the draft day thread is probably not for you.
Hell, I usually close my laptop the pick before ours because some people (especially on Twitter) are several minutes ahead of me.
And then I reopen it, and share my thoughts on the pick. Usually something like, “Bookmark this post: Gibbs is a killer, and will be a top RB in the league!”
Anyway, you’ve been warned. We’ve been doing this for 20+ years, and this is the only way.
In a perfect world, I’d have Mel Kiper’s stupid face and each pick streaming alongside the chat. But until that can be done without me getting sued into oblivion, this will have to do.
this wouldn’t have anything with people blurting out who we drafted-as , some of our times actually seeing the pick is a bit different from each other??-would it?
Meh. I wouldn’t worry about it. This place will be calm, respectful and completely understandable of whatever direction Brad goes that weekend. Remember, 100% of us loved and stayed tranquil for the TeSlaa pick.
