Its almost like GB was letting the Lions get 5-6 yard passes in the middle easily. And then sent the house in the redzone and the Lions had absolutely no answer for it. Yes the O Line played poorly. But you honestly expect me to believe THIS was the game plan yall came up with after 18 weeks??? Ok bud.
I was shocked to not see a Jamo post in the first possession. I don’t care if you have to go max protect to run it, why have him run a thousand of them during the offseason, pay him tens of millions, and then not cut him loose?
Lions couldn’t run the ball. If we can’t run the ball next week it’s gonna be more of the same. I think being at home will be a huge help for the OL. Unfortunately I think it’s gonna take a few weeks for the OL to really gel. Decker pretty much said it in the post game. Just hard to replicate actual game reps.
Not sure but Goff spent most of the game checking down Gibbs because he was felling the pressure. Can’t run the ball so it’s hard to get any play action going. Packers dared us to throw deep so Goff took what they were giving. Think we had something like 46 yards rushing…..that’s a big issue to me.
yeah run game is one of the big things to take away
that explosive running game being held in check, misuse of Gibbs and Monty’s strengths?
a bit worrying
I think goff played fine considering what happend this game, Oline was not playing well, no run game really, he took what was given to him, but playcalling seemed rough too.
people might look at Goff, but i really dont think this game is on him, more so than Oline and playcalling tbh.
Yea even the interception was just a great play to me. Not giving Goff a free pass but great jump by Evan’s I think it was. But this team is built around the OLine and running game and we got man handled by that packers defense.
That’s the issue when you have to dump down every play and never take a shot. It’s a great play by the DB, no doubt, but eventually they’re going to jump it if there’s no deep threat.
Agreed 1000% that without a running game, we’re going to struggle.
Outside of scheming and all that, the Packers were flying around. They were quicker to the play, more violent at the point of attack, and looked like they wanted to play football. Lions? Looked like a team that was hungover.
But that’s kind of my point in all of this it looks like they just kinda gave up trying to do anything. Yes, they were still trying to win the game, but they were trying by doing the same thing over and over.
One man runs deep one man runs a crosser and the other two to a curl route. And all Goff did was just kept checking down the short curl route or the dump off to Gibbs. You are never gonna win any NFL football game doing that.
Something about the way Dan said “it’s not what you think” actually had me wondering if half the team was hungover (or had caught whatever bug that Teslaa had earlier in the week). People play sick (or hungover) all the time. Sometimes you can’t tell, other times the general public has no clue and just thinks “so and so really had an off game”.
This was my biggest complaint. We took what they gave us rather than dictating to them. We should have pushed downfield even if they were incompletions because it would have forced Green Bay to back up. Instead we let them stuff the line of scrimmage for 60 minutes and expected to beat it. This is my concern about our new OC. Force the defense to adjust. Find the mismatches and exploit. I know it is only week 1 but it is concerning.
If I remember right, too, and I could be wrong, but It looked like both guys who were on the left side of the field were more open than ARSB. Definitely felt like a poor choice by Goff at the time.
