Edmonton had more hits and more shots on goal… But the difference level at goalie is a huge advantage for the Panthers.

Panthers, literally ran over the Oilers, 6-1. Oilers have no answer for Marchand (Whole Series so far)…Panthers LOVE getting down in the mud, and dragging opposing teams there, brutish. Good size, too. IMO, Tampa Bay, is the only NHL Team that could compete with the Panthers, and the Panthers took care of the Lightning relatively easy in 2025. Panthers deliver absolutely Crushing Checks all over the ice. Fun to Watch… Kronwall would enjoy playing Defense for the Panthers, I’m sure. Great Depth, which the Oilers lack. Superior Goaltending as well. Lethal on the PP. That behind-the-back pass to make it 3-1 was a Highlight Reel Goal for sure !!.
Oilers miss Hyman to take some of the goal scoring pressure off the McDavid-Draisatil line. I hate Marchand & Perry, but have tremendous respect for each as a Player. Great individual Careers !!. But both would add Scoring & Sandpaper to the Wings. Both are Clutch for their respective teams.
FLA reminds me a lot of the late 70’s Islanders Powerhouse Team…Clark Gilles - Huge bully of a man with a light scoring touch, dished out brutal open-ice checks, literally running over anybody in his path. Trottier, Bossy, Bourne, Tonelli, Nystrom & Potvin on Defense, Billy Smith in Goal…Similar to Marchand, Barkov- Gilles Clone, Bennett - See Bourne or Tonelli, Ekblad - Nystrom on Defense, Bobovosky in Goal - See Billy Smith. Islanders WON 4 Straight in the late 70’s, got old, then were followed immediately by the Oilers winning 4 straight with Wayne et al…
