Well…technically, they can…buuuuuut…
LOL
Until the Lions win a playoff game they can. Just look at the Vikings last year and there record. I am not saying they are the same team or many things didn’t go exactly right for that Vikings record last year. My bare minimum for this being a successful year is a playoff win.
see?!? LOL.
Oh, my. Comparing us to the vikings of last year is like comparing a grape to a ghost pepper
I ate a pepper once & it burned my tongue, so I will never try grapes!
We might get a first round bye.
I would say the eyeball test is the difference between this team and the Vikings or other lions teams. Anyone who actually watches the team sees it. Knows it. Feels it.
We may lose in the end, but it won’t be because of pretending.
When the north. And im 99 percent positive we do, then i agree. I
Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad they’re 6-2 and don’t think they’re frauds in the least BUT they’re 1-2 against good teams and have fattened up on weak opponents with wins against the NFC South outside of New Orleans, Green Bay, Carolina and Vegas so until they start beating good teams, I think “wait and see” is probably the right approach before considering them a legit contender.
Even the good teams fatten up on beating the weaker ones. I get what the point is, but at this point of the year, everyone is a fraud.
September is basically extended preseason. October is when things begin sorting out, and injuries inevitably cull the herd. November and December is when the weather gets cold and nasty, the chase heats up and cream begins rising to the surface.
There is enough on record to show that we are the real deal. Seems like every loss we have we bounce back in a big fashion. Facts are Facts.
I’ll accept this when I’m wearing the elusive division champs shirt I’ve been wanting for 30 years
I’m still not sure we’re yet the real deal if by that you mean a true SB contender.
I am a bit tired of this narrative.
Good teams (the Lions for instance) beat crappy teams and average teams and only lose to good teams. For instance:
Eagles - lost to Jets (3rd), beat Dolphins (1)rest of games trash
Lions - lost to Seattle (1st), Ravens (1st) beat KC 1st in AFC
Seattle - lost to Bengals (4th) and Rams (3rd) Beat Lions (1st)
49ers - Lost to Bengals (4th), Vikes (2nd) , Browns (3rd) Beat Dallas (2nd)
Dallas - Lost to Cardinals (4th) , 49ers (2nd) Beat ??? Rams??
So who in the NFC has your respect? Seriously? I would guess only Philly?
I mean the Lions beat the 1st seed in the AFC and has lost to the 1st place Ravens and 1st place Seahags. I am not clear what you need?
This old argument of who have you beaten is valid but old and not that helpful. Especially when you consider the Lions have 5 double digit wins, a 1 point win, an OT loss and a bad loss. I think it is fair to say they are good. Very good. And have passed anyone’s eyeball test. The defense is the one area of great improvement this season. And with Monty coming back and the Oline hopefully soon to be healthy. I think this team will be just fine. The only question is the playoffs now and how far do the go.
All those teams have been to the playoffs, two to the Superbowl in recent years, so they’ve earned their clout and two of them have beaten the Lions the last two years so it’s understandable that those teams would get more respect than the Lions.
All I’m saying is that the Lions have some proving to do before they earn the respect that those teams currently have and beating the NFC South, Green Bay, Carolina and Vegas is not going to erase that doubt. I think most tab the Lions as a good team but as a SB contender? They just haven’t earned that title yet.
So, are we done talking shit about Gibbs and Campbell, or, do we not quite feel foolish enough, yet?
Both are still only tip of the iceberg.
Promise.

I totally believe that!
For the most part, I’ve just sat back, read the “positional value”, bs, and laughed.
These guys are freaks trying to push very good players out of their way.
Branch had to push Will Harris aside.
LaPorta had to push Brock Wright aside.
Not the same as having to push Monty and RDT aside.
Bro Mart is beginning to demand playing time, too.
Sorsdal is beginning to show why he was drafted.
Hooker is just watching. Waiting. Chomping at the bit.
2023 may go down as the Lions best draft EVER!
It will certainly be top 3 of the modern era.
I expect many to disagree, but, my money says #1 Lions draft ever.
Go ahead and laugh. It’s only fair.![]()
