One of those hybrid TE/FB types we’ve been wanting, I could see that. Everyone thought Penei would be a great TE if he lost weight, well here’s the lost-weight version of him. Not quite as tall or as long but plenty big enough for the role.
That’s the difference between the 2 if you ask
me, Jack will be a 2nd RD pic. A Sewell will be a 3rd or 4th. I don’t see this staff taking a LB in the 2nd, but maybe the 3rd and would be probably in the 4th. I don’t think Campbell is in play for us because of how high he will go . But Sewell will probably drop enough that he could be in play
If i were to bet money on where Sewell gets drafted… id guess 4th round. Possibly 5th. At this point i will be surprised if he is taken in the top 100 picks.
I think 4th/5th is likely for a 2 down LB. If you draft him you need him to play around 240/245 Lbs. He has some big time potential but he’s not a plug and play guy.
Going undrafted would be remarkably surprising to me. I see a kid that got too big and it hurt his performance on the field. He got down in weight for the combine and our staff will make sure he stays below 250.
I think the Ducks changed their defensive scheme and asked him to add weight as a box thumper. Did him a big disservice IMO. It’s worth a late round flier, if only to make Sewell even more comfortable in Detroit
So was this all scheme related? Or did the offenses learn to use his lack of speed against him? He went from being a rising star to hot garbage quickly
