This is the most remarkable thing from the article:
Speaking of remodeling, Arizona Sports’ Tyler Drake explains why the Cardinals need to take a page out of the Lions’ book on revamping a franchise. “The Lions — yes, the same franchise that has an 0-16 mark on its resume — offer the perfect blueprint for the Cardinals’ new regime to follow.” Never thought I’d see the day.
don’t have time to read the article. but gibbs may be the best lion signing in 20+ years. i watched the tape of all the draftees this year after the draft was over. only branch and gibbs’ tape stood out to me as sure bets. you look at some of the other guys and you’re like yeah, ok, i kind a see the role / the talent. but for those guys you trust that the scouts did their work.
with gibbs, not a single thing is lacking in his game. not one wasted highlight. he does everything well and always with 100% intensity. combined with his talent and work ethic, this guy is going to be huge. even when he’s not putting up personal yard stats, he will make everybody else look better and give everybody else opportunities that they wouldn’t have otherwise on their own.
my personal preference : he has a reserved demeanor to boot. no wasted words. no showboat, bullshit nonsense about how great he is or is going to be. instead, show me don’t tell me. then rinse wash and repeat.
Without having looked at tape of all of the draftees, or many if any, I would add B Robinson as a sure bet. This based on watching numerous TX games and knowing he will be a workhorse in Atlanta.
cool. to be clear. i don’t spend tons of time watching college football during the season or searching for player tape before the draft. i just look at the compiled film reels they show at draft time. mostly one and done kind of thing. but gibbs and branch look like nfl football players to me. as in right now.
i did go back to see a better / longer highlight reel on la porta later and i can totally see his upside to the point where he’s a contributing this year, potentially in a huge way, but mostly because gibbs is going to give him opportunities that he might not have on his own or thru his own ability.
A RB’s impact on the game is just SO big (when they can dominate).
Fox is our best player, but you can only influence the game so much when you play 5 snaps/game.
…same with S vs RB.
Give me Gibby over any S in the NFL.
annnd…if I’m being perfectly honest, I think Gibby is the better player. He’s just such a complete player that can do everything. High level dawgs, both of 'em!
