Wow a lot of new names. Caleb Collins, August Mangin, Justin Mesa, Marques Tuiasosopo… names we haven’t even heard before, at least not in the context of being Lions coaches.
So Gradkowski and Tuiasosopo are just offensive assistants. Doesn’t look like we have an assistant QB coach listed, though surely those guys will combine to help handle it.

Seth Ryan is now assistant TE coach instead of assistant WR coach.

As a new coordinator most guys want to bring in coaches who you trust and are very loyal to you (and not interested in taking your job).
In Collins and Mangin Shep is reaching out to his LSU roots to bring in guys that have worked in that common environment.
Shep is making it his staff.
Other than DeShea Townsend and Jim O’Neil, Shep has a personal history with the other Defensive staffers.
It seems that the staff is using more general assistants than placing coaches in restrictive silos.
Some position groups are so unique that they require specialists like Special Teams and Offensive Line.
Surprised that Seth Ryan has been listed as a specific position assistant.
Also surprised that there is no one else with significant D-Line experience to work with Kacy Rodgers.
Funny because we were joking around a couple weeks ago about why would need an assistant tight end coach when a team only has 3 or 4 tight ends. Well we got one now.
Shit ton of coaches on an nfl staff. 53 man roster and we have about 30 coaches.
Lots of titles on defense. We have a run game coordinater, pass game coordinater, defensive coordinator, as well as Jim O’Neil, who Sheppherd said had offers to go elsewhere and was a former DC himself.

I’m getting flashbacks to an Appian training project where I was tasked with building an HR app that handled employee on-boarding and transfers.
Looks good to me! I think we’ll find out through the year that some of those guys are the equivalent of our missing assistants
