Official injury report: Houston out

That.

If he has is truly limited with no bend, Dan would not have teased it. Why open his window at all? Makes no sense.

Week 18 and we think we know better than an NFL coaching staff.

Absolutely no one said that. We can voice frustrations here. This forum is not run by the Detroit Lions.

ā€œI don’t get itā€ is not the same as ā€œThis coaching staff is stupid.ā€

Hopefully Brock Wright will remind everyone about the 22 season he had and the reason I vehimitely argued (ad nauseum) against drafting a TE.

I am actually shocked they haven’t signed Zylstra

I need Jamo to break the Rams’ spirit twice in the first half.

The only thing that makes sense to me is he doesn’t look good in practice post injury.

And if that’s the case… I get it. Dude did snap his ankle.

In fairness Coach Campbell has stated Houston had a little ways to go, and has said things like ā€œhe’s starting to look better,ā€ but it feels like reading between the lines that he’s not there yet. I get it if they are hesitant to trust him right this second.

I don’t understand how anyone can assume anything other than this

The James Houston that would take the field on Sunday is a totally different player from the James Houston we saw last year and early this year. CJGJ wasn’t the same player this past Sunday either, although he showed a flash or two. It takes a game or two to get back in a rhythm, and we don’t have spare games to get a guy like Houston ready anymore.

Plus, if he didn’t play last weekend, his injury was obviously still bad enough to keep him off the field, because that was the ultimate ā€œget back in shapeā€ game for the injured guys. So are we going to complain about a guy who was all season up until at least 5 days ago being held out of the biggest game all year that we literally have to win?

Do you read this forum? Most of us were anxiously anticipating a return of Houston, even if snaps were limited.

Disappointment is fine. It’d be weird as hell if there wasn’t a thread on this.

There’s a decent chance Houston is done for good. Flash in the pan who broke his ankle.

He has plates and screws in his leg now. Bye bye bend

I mean is this the final report? I feel like there has been times this year that this report didn’t end up reflecting the Sunday final decision, but I guess I could be mistaken.

I’ll say it in every thread about him:

The injury that Houston had is extremely difficult to return from this quickly. Campbell’s statements have always felt like he was trying to tamp down expectations.

Correct Houston might never get back to the one trick pony he was because of breaking that ankle and having a plate screwed in there now. He might be able to play on one side of the line but how effective is that in the long run.

Unfortunately being a one trick pony in this league and that trick relays on bend and you have a plate on your ankle might never come back.
